We LOVE Nationwide Pet

We have had VPI/Nationwide for 7 years now and we LOVE it. Our dogs seem to be accident prone, and it puts my mind at ease knowing that they have insurance coverage, which allows us to never think twice about getting them the care they need due to cost. We are always reimbursed in a timely manner and the customer service is fantastic! Highly highly recommend to everyone!

It took over four months to get my first claim processed

The very first claim I filed was rejected because he had previously had a torn toenail as an exclusion to the policy, however this was on a different foot altogether and the original torn nail was over 6 months prior (so should have been classified as "healed"). After the claim was denied I called several times, submitted paperwork several times, and eventually the claim was "accepted" but due to all the confusion in the paper trail $0 was applied to the deductible. After several more fruitless phone calls I left a voice message and everything was cleared up about a week later. This was great, but it should not have taken nearly six months to achieve this outcome. I have made several other claims for Otis--as well as two for another policy I have on my dog Bach--and almost all of them have had similar problems where it was initially rejected or delayed. It should not be this difficult to use the policy. A 30 day turnaround on an initial claim review, and then 60-day review on a second claim review is absurd. It seems this confusing back-and-forth is created to make it so difficult to use the policy I will just forget or drop it. Moving forward I have one major concern for Otis: a couple months back he tore his ACL and needs surgery. This 100% should be covered by my policy because the injury occurred during this policy. Due to your company policy I could not get the surgery pre-authorized, and with all the difficulties I had filing minor claims I am not at all confident Nationwide Pet Insurance will honor our agreement in a timely fashion, if at all. Please help give me confidence this legitimate claim will be handled better than all my previous claims.
