Life-Safer
I adopted a healthy puppy when he was 10 weeks old with no health issues. Insured him because I'm naturally anxious and wanted to be prepared for the worst case scenario. Well, as it turns out my pup is medically complex to say the least. He had anal gland issues, has chronic GI problems, and has anxiety. His first year was expensive and traumatic for us both. Being able to let go of financial worries and know that Nationwide would reimburse 90% of the expenses was life-saving and allowed me to focus entirely on getting my pup back to health. This year, his health has been much better managed overall. However, last week was quite a week and I ended up calling the VetHelpline three times to seek advice about possible emergencies. The on-call vets were wonderful, reassuring, and walked me through what to do. I don't know what I would have done without that service! I will say that the premiums are expensive as sin (more than double what I pay for my own medical insurance), but in my case, they have been WELL worth it.
