Healthy Paws | Pet Insurance Review

I was a naysayer about pet insurance after my experience with pet insurance about 20 years ago. A little over a year ago, after being prompted by my daughter, who is a vet tech, I did some research to find a company that offered policies for my dogs that I thought were worth the cost. I decided that Healthy Paws Pet Insurance was a reputable company that offered policies that I thought were worth the investment. I hoped to never need to file a claim but my English setter, Lola, ended up at a major university's veterinary hospital ER a few weeks ago. The good news is that Lola is now fine. The bad news is that her treatments in the ER and her hospitalization cost thousands of dollars. The other good news is that after filling a claim, which was easy to do, I received a check for a significant portion of the costs within a week. I am very pleased with my Healthy Paws policy and highly recommend them.

Most recently, my dog injured her knee and needed surgery. But leading up to that, we tried rest with pain med, then injections to help with healing and comfort, but ultimately she needed the surgery. Not only did they approve and reimburse me for that claim within two days, but they personally followed up to check in on her recovery. Thanks for the support when we needed you. I have this insurance for my 2 pets, a cat and a dog for 5 years. I started paying $67 for both. Last year or year before the monthly payment increased to $88 for both, and I agreed to it because I thought it happened after we did submit claims after my dog's surgery. But now, only 1 or 2 years after, after I didn't submit any claims, they increased it to $125, which is almost 50% increase! It is insane ! They offer other options which you will need to pay insurance AND deductible not $250 that I have now, but %500 or even %1000. Before it happened I did recommend this insurance for everyone, but now I can say that it is unfair, increase should not effect all customers, it may affect those who did submit claims, even not all of them, only if it was a lot. How much we will pay in a few years, like for car insurance, $ 700 ?????

Had this insurance for my DSH cat for many years without needing to use it. Some emergency issues came up recently and it was really easy. I uploaded receipts and records in the app, they contacted my vets for anything else they needed, and claims were approved within a couple days. Very relieved to have the financial support from them with zero fighting over benefits, confusion, or delay.
