Lily became a part of our family at around 18mo of life, she was kind of a mess in many ways as she wasn't treated kindly before entering her foster home. Right away we knew this high energy and agile dog would need insurance. I searched many plans before deciding Healthy Paws would fit our needs best. We worked hard to buy quality food and keep her healthy so we didn't feel the need for a plan that covered routine visits at the expense of having an annual cap or outrageous prices. We opted to have the lowest deductible with the highest reimbursement rate as we assumed we would need it for something like a torn ACL or broken leg years down the road. We went years with only needing to file a claim or two for minor cuts that would require a stitch here and there from rough play. Two months ago we took Lily in to check her for what we thought were digestion issues, to our dismay that visit we saw x-rays that showed an enlarged heart and the vet found other abnormalities. She was waitlisted to see a cardiologist and about two weeks later she needed to be rushed in to see an ER Cardiologist as her lungs were filling with fluid and her health was suddenly suffering. After a 24hour stay, medications, fluids, and multiple kinds of imaging she was released with a CHF diagnosis and a list of structural abnormalities within the heart. Our lively and spunky dog was returned to us with a large bill and a very expensive list of medications. Within the past month we had spent a lot of time in and out of vet offices, had to apply for care credit, lost hours of sleep counting respiratory rates, started 5 new medications, and had emotional break downs, but the easiest and most comforting part of this experience has been working with Healthy Paws. Filing claims is a breeze (literally takes one minute) in between all the stressful phone calls and commuting to different vets and picking up my child from school. The wait times to reach customer service is almost non existent, they follow up, answer questions, and are extremely transparent in what they cover. We never once needed to resubmit claims or renegotiate covering a bill or medications (seriously, one prescription was $664). THEY ACTUALLY REMIBURESED 90% of everything the website says they will. They provide explanation of coverage with each bill and we got our payments direct deposited in less than a week. Without this insurance we wouldn't have been able to provide her with quality end of life care, especially not during these Covid times being a small business owner and a young family. We are extremely grateful to Healthy Paws and would never have another dog without having a policy with them.
We adopted our dog at 18months, she was a mess as she wasn't treated kindly by the original pet owners. We went for years and only needed to submit a claim 3 times for minor cuts. I felt that they were reasonably prices and the annual premium increase was minimal and worth the potentials of what we would need it for. Recently our almost 7 year old, active and healthy seeming dog started changing. We experienced what felt like a nightmare when this past month we took her in for what we thought was digestion issues only to discover that she had an enlarged heart with arythmias that needed to be looked into further. While we waited she took a turn for the worst and was sent to the ER vet (PRICEY!) to see a cardiologist and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and put on a multitude of medications and strict follow up regimen. The easiest part of this whole experience has been working with out insurance. They reimbursed us for 90% of our covered bills and medications to help make what we assume will be her last year of life a comfortable one (the things they don't cover is minimal and very transparent)! We probably submitted close to 10 claims this past month and there hasn't been a single one that we needed to negotiate coverage for not to mention each invoice was direct deposited into our bank account in less than 5 days! Healthy paws has has amazing customer service, efficient billing, reasonable pricing, and has been well worth the affordable monthly premium. If it wasn't for our insurance we wouldn't have been able to provide the care for her that she needed, especially in this financial climate of being a small business owner in the midst of Covid19.

Healthy Paws is amazing!
I subscribed to Healthy Paws pet insurance when my puppy was ~12 weeks old. I wanted to make sure that if she ever got a severe/random disease like cancer that I wouldn't have to think about whether or not I could afford treatment. When my dog was about 2 years old, she started getting really bad environmental allergies which has led to constant ear infections, UTIs, skin problems, scratching, etc. in addition to monthly Cytopoint injections ($100 each!!). Healthy Paws has been extremely easy to work with and usually completes claims and reimburses us within 1-2 days of submission. We are now trying out immunotherapy on our dog to actually treat her allergies, and I don't think we'd even be able to consider that if we didn't have coverage through Healthy Paws. I would recommend Healthy Paws to all dog owners and I would just recommend getting it as early as possible to avoid having pre-existing conditions that might deny coverage!
