50% price increase year over year!!!

My dog is now 11 and I had her insured with Healthy Paws for 7 years now. They have been steadily increasing my policy rates every year. This year they increased it by 50%!!!! How does it make any sense that a company is allowed to do that?! My dog's insurance costs more than a human insurance now. If you have a puppy, think twice if to insure your dog with Healthy Paws because you know now what will happen to your insurance price as your dog gets older! This is not how a company that truly cares about pets treats customers. They are just another greedy Enterprise that cares about revenue more than anything else!

Premiums Sky-rocketing as pet gets older

This company raises premiums at an absurd rate (65% increase over the past 2 years for my dog). I would love to see the support/documentation the company has to show veterinary costs have gone up 65% in two years!! Some quick research shows the average increase in dog plans is only 25% over the last 5-years, never mind 2-years. I would stay away to find a more honest company that does not raise rates as your pet gets older and is more likely to need and use the insurance you're paying for.

Worth it

After looking for a long time, I enrolled in healthy paws shortly after bringing home my sheltie puppy. As it turns out, he’s very accident prone. We celebrated his first birthday about a month ago by getting a plate put in his leg. He jumped off of the bed (he didn’t use the steps for some reason) and shattered his radius/ulna. I filed the claim on healthy paws very easily and the refund was deposited in only a few short days. That was the most recent time we’ve filed a claim through them but certainly wasn’t the first. Very shortly before he broke his leg he cut a different leg open to the bone (on a stick playing in the back yard because he’s a mess) and had to get staples which they again refunded in only days no issue. Basically to sum it up healthy paws has been absolutely amazing with easy claims, very fast refunds and they even email to check up on him after each refund they’ve sent me! I highly recommend healthy paws pet insurance!

Stay Away

I have had my dogs covered with Healthy Paws since 2016. One of my dogs passed away in November 2020 and the claims were paid promptly and easily...which is what I expected given this company's reputation. My other dog who was also covered since 2016 had some growths which needed to be removed and were later diagnosed as cancerous. I submitted the medical records and received confirmation the claim was being looked at. I was giving it extra time given that things have been moving slowly due to the pandemic. Imagine my surprise when I received a notice stating the claim was denied and closed because of missing medical records? I have no record in my email or spam of them notifying me that more records were needed. I eventually found something in the messages folder of my Healthy Paws account. I sent all the records I had from 2013 to present to appeals and didn't hear anything. I then spoke with someone in customer service who confirmed they received the records but was confused since some of the pages came through upside down...but, she confirmed that it was being worked on. Weeks went by and still, I heard nothing so I called again. This time, the customer service rep was confused since all the records were there. He was able to open the file without a problem and he assured me it would be processed. Another 30 days went by. I heard nothing so I called again. This time I was told that the claim was denied because the appeals person couldn't open the attached files. The same files that the previous rep was able to open and look at. This rep set up a level 3 appeal and told me if I didn't hear back in 5 days to call back...which I did today. I had to start all over again with today's rep and according to him, I have to wait until September 13 before following up again. To add insult to injury, I received a notice of a rate increase. Are you kidding me right now? Stay away from this company. The customer service reps are very nice people but they have no authority to actually get things done...and the people that do have the authority don't seem to care. Robin Rosenhaus

Very easy and responsive claims processing

I have had Healthy Paws pet insurance from the day I brought my dog home. I researched all of the pet insurance companies and found Healthy Paws reviews to be the best. I really liked that there was only one annual deductible and no other caps on diagnoses or total amount of claims. Still, I was hoping that I would never need them. Unfortunately, I did ... several times over the last 6 years, most recently when my dog was diagnosed with a horrible eye disease. Every time I submitted a claim, Healthy Paws processed it quickly and easily. Given the enormous stress of my dog's illness, the last thing I needed was to have to fight with an insurance company. That was not the case with Healthy Paws. And, they followed up asking how my dog was doing. Excellent company with excellent customer service.
