Healthy Paws | Pet Insurance Review

After years of having our pet insured with Healthy Paws, we finally had an emergency that ended up costing around $800. That was over half a year ago. Ever since then, HP is requesting more medical records (THERE AREN'T ANY, WE'VE SUBMITTED EVERYTHING!!!!), then they close the case, reopen the case, and we go through the same stupid game over and over. It's called giving your customer the run-around. It's been the most aggravating and frustrating thing we've ever had to deal with. There is no reasoning with these people. Just a classic, scum of the earth, greedy, and highly unethical insurance company. See you in court. The Policy Number is I19044579, the claim number is 748241-1-2. Update August 2022: After months of wrangling and frustration, Healthy Paws finally settled the claim after I posted this review. Needless to say, the 1-star rating stands and our policy with them is cancelled for good.

Healthy Paws has been great! We were unsure about getting pet insurance but did so anyways just to be on the safe side. I am so glad that we got it for our pup. We found out that he had torn ligaments in both hind legs and needed surgery on both. Without Healthy Paws, we would not have been able to afford the care our pup needed!

When my dog tore his CCL (ACL) at age 3 I was very concerned that we would not be able to afford his surgery and his rehab that would help optimize his recovery. We got Healthy Paws pet insurance when he was a puppy and thankfully that covered everything up to 90% after we met our deductible (met this very quickly with the cost of surgery). Not only did they easily cover the surgery without any push back but they also have been covering his physical therapy. They covered physical therapy both before surgery (water treadmill and laser therapy) to keep him strong before surgery and now they have continued to cover physical therapy after surgery. The surgery was 4700 dollars and they covered 90% of this and then PT is about 1000 dollars per 8 sessions and they are also covering 90% of this. We uploaded our bill and vet notes on the day of surgery and I had a direct deposit within days into my bank account for the reimbursement. Over the years they have also been easily putting minor issues towards his deducible without pushback (allergies, a skin infection from his seasonal allergies, etc.). I cannot recommend getting pet insurance enough - it has helped us so much through this surgery.

I’ve been with Healthy Paws for over 2 years. Claim submissions are fast and easy. Recently our Homer boy had to have life saving surgery to address his breathing issues, the cost was close to $7K. Any questions I had regarding my policy was addressed with a quick call to a friendly customer rep. After surgery I submitted my claim and within days I was reimbursed 80% of Homer’s surgery. Healthy Paws was even kind enough to check on Homer and his recovery. Great customer service by people who really care about your pets. This surgery would not have been possible without pet insurance. Thank you Healthy Paws!
