Hoping the hype about this company holds true...
This is the third pet insurance company I've had experience with. I thought it would be a good choice because of the unlimited lifetime benefits/unlimited claims. Now I'm wondering. Our little guy was adopted in six months ago. Three months ago he became extremely ill while out on a walk. I carried him home, called our vet, piled into the car and off we went. Everything is fine now, we don't really know what the cause was, and our expenses were under our deductible so there was no payout. That's fine. What caught me off guard is the fact that the emergency exam is not counted toward the deductible. When I read that exams weren't covered I guess mentally I heard "regular well visit exams aren't covered" not "no exam, despite emergency circumstances, will be eligible for claim nor does it count toward your deductible". So I'm thinking about changing companies. Not sure what I'll do. But it truly seems to me that the examination is a major part of an emergency treatment and should not be considered on a par with a regular well visit. I've given seven as a rating because the review won't go through without a rating. I'm not really sure how to rate this plan. They're honest--this point is listed in the policy--I just don't know how many other people will have the same reaction I had, that this is part of an emergency treatment, not just an exam. I'm just hoping things are better when I have something truly expensive pop up, as I know it will.
