Get Healthy Paws Pet Insurance today!
I have had Healthy Paws Pet Insurance since 2008 on all of my pets. Although I was initially skeptical about the benefits of pet health insurance versus the cost, I am now a strong advocate of pet health insurance. I urge all of my friends and acquaintances to get it on their pets. I even tell strangers about it when the opportunity arises. Why am I so convinced of the benefit of having pet health insurance? Let me tell you about a couple of my experiences!
I insured Ginny, a mixed-breed cat I adopted as a kitten, with Healthy Paws Pet Insurance when she was several years old in 2008. Ginny was totally healthy at the time. However, as Ginny got older, she developed diabetes. Her insulin alone was approximately $170.00 per vial. In addition to the insulin, I had to take Ginny to her vet initially for routine glucose curves and readings, and I had to buy syringes on an ongoing basis.
In 2014, Ginny was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer (i.e., rare in cats). She was referred to the University of Georgia, where she was treated on an ongoing basis for the rest of her life. Before Ginny passed in December of 2016, she was also diagnosed with IBD (irritable bowel disease), which created additional serious issues that needed to be treated. Although the IBD accelerated Ginny’s death, her cancer had been in full remission for quite a while and she had been living a quality life until late in 2016.
Healthy Paws Pet Insurance made it possible for me to provide Ginny with the best possible care, including specialist care at times, which not only extended her life while simultaneously providing quality of life, but also gave me peace of mind in knowing that I was doing everything possible to help her.
Another pet, Coco, a Papillon mix, had a herniated disc. I made every effort to avoid putting her through surgery, including cold laser therapy, acupuncture treatments and an anti-inflammatory medicine, but ultimately her pain continued to increase, and surgery became the obvious best option to provide Coco with pain relief and a chance at living a long and quality life.
Coco’s back surgery was performed by a veterinary neurologist earlier this year. The total cost was $6,000 and thanks to Healthy Paws Pet Insurance, I was quickly reimbursed for the majority of the $6,000. Healthy Paws again made it possible for one of my pets to live an extended life with great quality. Coco has fully recovered from the surgery and is back to her normal antics chasing
