I cannot say enough about how wonderful Healthy Paws Pet Insurance has been and what a wonderful experience I had. Healthy Paws empathy and professional service throughout my dog’s life with me was exceptional. I have recommended and continue to recommend Healthy Paws to so many folks.
They always had excellent customer service throughout the three and a half years I had my french bulldog mix rescue. Sadly, he was recently diagnosed with cancer and passed away, but Healthy Paws made it easy during the last few months of his life, which was especially helpful during such a stressful time. I never worried about his insurance.
Once your online account is set up, download the app. Using the app on your phone is so easy. After appointments or buying medication, all you need to do is take a photo of your invoice/payment and upload it. There are no forms to fill out. It couldn’t be any easier. They also offer a direct deposit option. If you prefer checks in the mail, that is very straightforward and doesn’t take forever. If you have a higher invoice, you can follow-up and they’ll flag it so you are reimbursed sooner, which is lovely.
When I first got my dog, his vet discovered that he had six rotten teeth, which had to be pulled. He had to undergo anesthesia, which is very expensive. However, all the bad teeth were covered, minus the usual uncovered fees (preventative care, e.g., his teeth cleaning, and the appointment fee).
A few years later, another one of his teeth broke, and the removal of this tooth, and new bad one, were both covered in the same way.
Towards the end of his life, my dog was very sick and Healthy Paws covered all the testing to determine why, including a very expensive surgery, which is the only reason we determined that he had stomach cancer. All the other testing—including specific expensive blood tests and panels, several x-rays, and an endoscopy down his throats—were was unsuccessful, so having Healthy Paws is the reason I moved ahead with the approximately $5,000 surgery. With my plan, my dog was covered at 90%. This included all of his pain medication for his cancer, surgery, and any new issues/sickness he had since he was covered with Healthy Paws.
I am grateful to Healthy Paws for allowing me to feel comfortable bringing my dog to the vet or for emergency care, including a call to the ASPCA hotline when he ate chocolate, as often as I felt was necessary. Had I not had Healthy Paws, I may not have gone every time, which would have been life-threatening for him, and would not have allowed me to have peace of mind. Of course, appointment fees are not covered, but that’s alright.
A few times, I easily emailed/called to re-submit invoices to be reviewed again when I felt I wasn’t accurately reimbursed. In all of these cases, Healthy Paws re-reviewed claims and would happily look at additional feedback from my dog's veterinarian and healthcare providers. In all cases, I was reimbursed for more than I was initially, when the additional information/context was provided.
Of note is that my dog didn't have any preexisting conditions, so that is something to consider depending on your pet's medical history. You provide that when you apply for the insurance. There is also a two-week grace period once the policy is implemented, before your pet will be reimbursed. Thus, it's important to have your pet's medical history and policy prepared in advance, for the best coverage.
I will definitely get Healthy Paws again for all future pets. Healthy Paws is essential for being a successful pet owner!

Healthy Paws Pet Insurance is Amazing!
Our experience with Healthy Paws Pet Insurance over the past few years has been amazing! Their customer service is incredible - I was especially impressed that they asked how my dog was doing and was very empathetic after his surgery.
I received the reimbursement by direct deposit which covered 90% of the vet/surgery bill. The process was simple and very fast. I am very pleased with my experience and would recommend Healthy Paws and always recommend to other pet owners.

Thanks to Healthy Paws we have literally saved thousands of dollars. Easy to use and hassle free. Once claim was submitted we heard back within hours that they were working on the claim and within a few days we received a check. I was surprised at how fast they responded and how easy it was.

There is only one insurance company for your pet: Healthy Paws
We have a Brussels runt with a very sensitive stomach. On top of that he recently had a dental condition and corresponding abscess that took a number of visits to get to the bottom of. All the while, Healthy Paws was there to handle claims promptly and with personal attention paid throughout. I couldn't recommend them more. As a caring pet owner, I don't know what I would do without the piece of mind and support they provide. They are the absolute best.
