Alia is BEYOND AMAZING

Alia is a huge asset to Fetch! She was so incredibly patient, so wonderfully professional and so amazingly kind! If all customer service representatives were as well-rounded and skilled as Alia is, the world would be a far happier place, of this I am sure! Amazing job, Alia! You deserve all the accolades!

Long time client

My cat is 17 years old, and I got him as a kitten. We've been subscribed to Fetch Pet Insurance since he was 8 weeks old, back when the service was known as "Pet Plan." Over the years, the quality of the service has slowly degraded. One year in his middle age, without my knowledge, my cat's coverage was downgraded during his renewal period, and since then, I've been unable to get him upgraded again back to my original coverage. His premium is also crazy high now that he's old. This is annoying, but I can live with it since it seems like that's kind of par for the course with pet insurance and it's true that pets have to see the vet more and have more health problems in their old age. It is however deeply annoying that he has a per-condition deductible that I have to meet over and over again for all his different "conditions." Sometimes I have to fight the adjusters over whether a medication/treatment is considered part of one condition or another. Anyone who has an old pet (or is old or has cared for an elderly relative!) will know that especially as you get older, all your systems are degrading and interconnected -- for instance, kidney disease can often cause hypertension in cats! So the per-condition deductible really seems disingenuous. It feels like a way for the company to squirrel out of paying out, and sometimes I just don't have the time/energy to fight them. The worst part however is that recently, the company acquired a (very incompetent / poorly coded and run) online pharmacy, and now coverage for medication that is not purchased through their proprietary pharmacy has an annual cap on it. This highly incentivizes policy holders to order meds through Fetch Pet RX to avoid being put in a position where you send your cat in to your vet for surgery or something, and some of the medications the vet prescribes/uses during the procedure aren't covered at all. Ordering from Fetch Pet RX is an AWFUL experience compared to ordering from any normal online pharmacy. But it really doesn't matter to the company, since their userbase is baked in and can't go anywhere. They have no incentive to improve the service. In general I am very wary of the push towards vertical integration in the vet/pet care world, and urge other pet parents to be wary as well. The more companies lock us in to their walled gardens, the less agency/freedom we have to seek better care for our pets. Perhaps this is a global trend across all pet insurance/pet care companies, but I for one will be resisting as long as I can. Get a different pet insurance for your pet (or if you can afford to, self-insure by putting money away every month!) and see your local veterinarian-owned private practice. Avoid these private equity backed corporations -- they will lure you in and trap you, and then milk you for every last cent you have.

Helpful call with Fabrice

I made contact with Fabrice and we had a long conversation as I was looking for Pet Health Insurance for Cedric, our brand new Cavapoo. We have always had dogs but this is the first time looking for insurance and there are many choices. The conversation with Fabrice helped me decide and have signed on with Fetch.

Monthly Cost

Plans average $35/month for dogs and $25 /month for cats

Coverage

You choose a reimbursement level of 70%, 80% or 90% after your deductible.

Payout Limits

Annual limit of $5,000, $10,000 or unlimited depending on your chosen plan.

Deductible

$250, $300 and $500

Age Limits

Fetch doesn’t enforce upper age limits, so you can enroll your pet any time after it turns six weeks old. Some providers limit coverage for older pets to accident-only. Fetch doesn’t limit coverage by age so that you can get the right care for your buddy, no matter what.

Waiting Period

Fetch’s waiting periods are up to 15 days for accidents and illnesses and six months for orthopedic events.

Exclusions

Fetch won’t cover pre-existing conditions, cosmetic procedures, boarding costs, breeding costs, wellness care items, or accidents and illnesses that occur during waiting periods.
