Fetch insurance is money wasted

Fetch will do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING they can to avoid paying out a legitimate claim. Several months ago, our puppy had an emergency vet visit for clearly presenting a potential bowel obstruction. Seems like an obvious claim right? Not to Fetch. So far they've sent us back to the ER vet multiple times asking for "more information" including the vet's detailed medical notes -- which we've supplied with increasing frustration. Today they want us to have our regular vet send EVERY MEDICAL RECORD ON FILE FOR THE PUPPY. They want her vaccination records? What's next? Her CKC parents' ancestry records? Unreasonable, unnecessary and frankly just another transparent effort to avoid a legitimate pay out. And getting to speak to a human? Virtually impossible. We will advise every pet owner we know about our horrible experience, as well as the people who recommended them and if we could cancel our year-long contract today and get a refund we would. UPDATE: It took 7 minutes for Fetch to respond online here to our deservedly negative review of their service to assure us that they were addressing our concerns and processing our claim. Three days later, it's been radio silence and no action -- except that they sent us an e-mail asking if we'd recommend them to friends. Not if we continue to get silence, no updates and the run around -- but we will share our continuing experience on the various dog breed communities we are part of to warn others of what to expect.

Would Not Recommend - Client of 8 years

I have had Fetch insurance for 8 years - I truly regret that I selected this company. My monthly fees have skyrocketed each year (from initially being under $100 a month) and took such an extreme leap when my dog turned 6 - going up by $200 a month. The only explanation they could provide was that my policy had "too much coverage" (Ie. they don't even offer it anymore) and that at 6 years old my dog (who is a small breed who will easily live over double that) was considered to be a senior. I made some policy changes to bring the monthly cost down to $130 - now today I have a policy renewal email saying it's increased by $100 per month yet again. Do not use this company - make a choice that offers transparency when it comes to how your policy cost may be adjusted/calculated. EDIT: Re Fetch Reply - At no point throughout my review did I say that Fetch has not covered claims (though there have been times when they have not, despite explanations from my vet). And I have spoken with representatives - one of whom candidly acknowledged that because I joined when Fetch was a new company and they no longer offer the level of coverage I initially had, the tactic of raising my monthly rate by over $100 a month at a time is to encourage me to decrease my dogs coverage and effectively force me out of the level of care I have. Given I have made use of my policy during some seriously unfortunate heath issues and given that my dog is only half way through his life, I can only imagine what my policy will become cost wise if it continues to be raised by $100 a month yearly as he actually becomes a senior dog. While Fetch has covered many medical bills (as is the purpose of insurance) I would want to know, if I were a new pet owner looking for insurance, that there is no controlled limit to how much your policy cost can be raised it seems, and that the company would have considered my dog senior at the age of 6.

I love Fetch

I love Fetch. I recently had a large dental expense for my dog. Fetch paid quickly and kept me informed regarding the progress of my claim. It was reassuring that I paid only a potion of the vet bill. I do not hesitate to highly recommend Fetch

Monthly Cost

Plans average $35/month for dogs and $25 /month for cats

Coverage

You choose a reimbursement level of 70%, 80% or 90% after your deductible.

Payout Limits

Annual limit of $5,000, $10,000 or unlimited depending on your chosen plan.

Deductible

$250, $300 and $500

Age Limits

Fetch doesn’t enforce upper age limits, so you can enroll your pet any time after it turns six weeks old. Some providers limit coverage for older pets to accident-only. Fetch doesn’t limit coverage by age so that you can get the right care for your buddy, no matter what.

Waiting Period

Fetch’s waiting periods are up to 15 days for accidents and illnesses and six months for orthopedic events.

Exclusions

Fetch won’t cover pre-existing conditions, cosmetic procedures, boarding costs, breeding costs, wellness care items, or accidents and illnesses that occur during waiting periods.
