Fraudulent failure of a company

I signed up for Embrace pet insurance on 11/25/2025 and sorely regret it. Now I’m out over $400 on monthly fees and have lost all faith in pet insurance companies. On 1/5/2026 my cat had a medical emergency in which blood was exiting her body through both ends. While the situation was extremely distressing, I felt comfortable knowing Embrace would help me cover the cost. After all, I was well past the 2 week accident and 1 month illness exclusion dates so I figured I had nothing to worry about. WRONG. Two months later, it’s now mid-March and I’ve only just received the denial letter after two months of constant follow up on my end and delayed and very limited response from them. They claimed that the delay in processing my claim was due to my veterinary office not providing them with medical records for 18 months prior to this incident. The problem, however, is that they did not ask the right clinic for the medical records, asking the emergency vet for my cat’s records rather than their regular vet. I asked on multiple occasions for them to reach out to the primary vet and it took over a month to get a response. 15 days after reaching out to my cat’s regular vet for medical records, they put the case “On Hold” claiming no documentation had been received. At that point my cat’s vet had sent the documentation over twice, once on 2/10/2026 and once on 2/20/2026. After following up on several occasions asking for an update on my claim, I filed a BBB complaint against Embrace on 3/5/2026. Shortly thereafter my case was moved to “in review” status and closed within 1 week. Embrace acknowledged they did receive the veterinary records on 2/20/2026 and claimed this review had been in process since then. I struggle to believe this given the complete radio silence until I submitted my complaint. Finally for the reason they rejected my claim: my cat had a bad reaction to a pet food in early 2025 and had a vet visit where it was noted that she had vomited and had diarrhea. Embrace claims that because there was not 12 consecutive months between these two completely unrelated incidents, this counts as a temporary condition they do not cover (and it’s hidden DEEP in the insurance policy). Two incidents, 345 days apart where the only things in common are vomiting and diarrhea. That’s it. I have no doubt that had I not canceled my policy with Embrace, should that same cat break a paw or something in the next year and vomit from the pain, Embrace would use that vomiting as an excuse to not pay out on the claim. I hope this serves as a warning to pet parents considering Embrace: they do not care about you or your pets and will find any and every loophole to delay or avoid payment. Shameful company.

Embrace just raised the monthly premium

Embrace just raised the monthly premium on my 3-year old dog by 58%. No explanation provided except babbling about vet prices are rising. Outrageous greed.

Every time I try and put in a claim…

Every time I try and put in a claim there is an issue. They have to go back and check records form different vets to determine if the claim is worthy of fulfilling. My primary vet is 50 miles away and was closed when my 2 year old Westies stepped on something in the yard and began limping. Went to emergency vet and was taken care, submitted the invoice and the have to go back 3 years and around the world to satisfy this claim after 11 days.
