Seemed frivolous at first, but did it ever pay off
For the last 13 years I have been the parent to two wonderful mini-schnauzers, Abbey and Holly. My wife insisted we get pet insurance but I was a little skeptical. I suggested putting money away into an account that we could use should our baby girls need it. Naturally, she won. I'm really glad she did. Over the course of our time with Embrace, Holly, our youngest, was diagnosed with an enlarged heart, bad kidneys, and neurological seizures. She had an internal medicine specialist, a neurologist, and a cardiologist. We would travel between three vets often. Abbey is now fighting her second bout of cancer and had a skin condition that no doctor, not even a vet dermatologist, had ever seen before. These veterinary bills have soared to around $40,000 over these 13 years and Embrace has been able to cover a good majority of that. Abbey goes in for surgery to have a lung removed in three weeks to try and beat cancer for a second time, and I'm just lucky Embrace is there to help us do that. These baby girls are our world and we want to do everything we can to make them healthy and happy.
