More like a scam than legitimate coverage

We are cancelling our insurance and wish we had not fallen for this racket. Our dog required surgery and in spite of our vet letters detailing how our dog developed his condition and needed surgery, embrace claimed this was not covered because our dog was “born with that risk”- They might have been good in the past; I don’t know if the positive reviews are old or outdated, but it seems Embrace looks for any technicality not to cover claims.

Terrible

Terrible, terrible, I sent 4 emails, no response, I tried calling 5 times and was on hold at least one hour each time. The last time I called I just set the phone down and waited while I ate and did some chores. Finally someone answered, I couldn't get the word "CANCEL" out of my mouth quick enough, sure glad my dog didn't need anything.

Defunct processing system and no human interaction

They ask for more information regarding claim and reference a claim number, but there is no way to cross reference what you have sent in with what they need more information on. You then either ask more questions through app, website, or email and you get a lengthy ping-pong or useless emails and do not get reimbursed. I have complained about this broken down system to no avail for several years!

Monthly Cost

$13 – $100, depending on your chosen plan.

Coverage

You have a co-pay of 10%, 20% or 30% after your deductible, depending on your chosen plan. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill.

Payout Limits

Annual limit of $2000, $5000, $10,000 or $15,000.

Deductible

Annual deductible options from $100 – $1,000.

Age Limits

Pet must be at least 6 weeks old to enroll. New pets over 14 are eligible for accident-only coverage. Once enrolled, pets can stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

There is a two-week illness waiting period, which begins on your policies’ effective date. Orthopedic conditions have additional Waiting or exclusion periods that vary by state.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Hereditary and congenital conditions are covered if they have not been diagnosed or suspected before the policy becomes active. Main plan covers alternative treatments such as chiropractic, acupuncture and homeopathic when provided by a licensed veterinarian. Optional wellness and prescription drug plans are available for an additional cost.
