Mis-interpretation of previous medical history
My son's cat, for whom I pay the insurance premium, was given a permanent exclusion with a diagnosis of anxiety which doesn't exist in his medical record.
To make his visits to the veterinary clinic Fear Free, he was prescribed gabapentin to be given prior to veterinary visits. A letter of appeal was submitted by the prescribing veterinarian to explain the situation but this was not given any merit.
Pre-visit gabapentin is a very common practice and should in no way be linked to a diagnosis of anxiety. I'm very disappointed by the interpretation of the medical records review and spent nearly an hour on the phone talking to staff at Embrace.
