Don't bother, save your money

Pointless. I had embrace for a year and every claim took at least 1 to 2 months to process, where it would be denied because of pre-existing conditions regardless of what the claim was for. My female dog's 7 different claims have been declined either because issues not covered outside of wellness, or because of her pre-existing condition of having had an ear infection 2 years ago. The most recent one being AN EAR INJURY being declined because of this ear infection from 2 years ago. That's like declining a claim for someone's broken wrist because they have psoriasis. My male dog, stung by a bee, scraped the skin on one of his toes, and pulled a muscle playing. The bee sting and muscle pull were declined stating that they were only covered under wellness plans, the skin scrape has been under review since March - I assume so they can figure out how to blame it on his one pre-existing condition of bad gums. Just another insurance scam company, they got a couple thousand dollars out of me and in return I got absolutely nothing. Don't bother with this company, put aside the money you were going to pay them into a long-term savings account. You'll save yourself some money and headaches. It's bad enough that insurance companies go above and beyond to screw over customers, it's absolutely vile that they'd do it to our pets too.

Disingenuous practices once a claim is submitted

My experience with it this company left us disappointed and feeling taken advantage of. We signed up our puppy around October 2023, submitted vet records as requested, and even had the optional extra orthopedic exam completed so he would be eligible for coverage sooner if a musculoskeletal condition developed. We paid faithfully for 6-7 months before my dog had a subpar experience with his groomer where his underbelly got accidentally nicked in multiple places, some more sensitive than others. He began to lick these wounds as dogs do, and within a day or two one spot started to look possibly like an early infection. We brought him into the vet on a Saturday morning before they closed for the weekend and he was treated promptly with antibiotic and anti inflammatory prescriptions. I submitted my claim, and 5 days later we got an email from a vet tech affiliated with Embrace who said she did a “medical history review” and permanently excluded him from motion sickness, and then added 12 month exclusions for giardia and “dermatologic conditions.” How convenient… despite us following all their rules, submitting his records at signup, as well as paying for him to have an extra orthopedic exam done by our vet and paying into his policy for half a year, they decide at the time of our first submission to go through his records and decide to exclude conditions, one of which was so generic it wouldn’t cover his current urgent and completely unrelated issue? Not to mention, even if this had been accepted, it would have just gone towards the deductible. I wish we had known about these “exclusions” before we started paying every month. I think it’s totally unfair for them to decide to apply a broad ‘dermatological exclusion for a year’ after he had some transient itching when he was a pup. If they’re going to pull stunts like that, they ought to tell you that at sign up. I would have reconsidered my decision to pay for their policy if I had known they wouldn’t even look at his history or initiate exclusions once the first claim was submitted. What’s the point of submitting that paperwork in the beginning then? What a waste of our time and money.
