Not worth the price

Have had this insurance for a couple years and had to use it for the first time this year. Had a procedure pre-certified and approved and then rejected after the procedure. Then a stomach bug medication that should have been covered was rejected for being a “wellness medication” even though it was for an active illness. The insurance cost has gone up significantly every year so it’s no longer worth it for our family

First Claim Experience

This was my very first claim through Embrace Pet Insurance. Their process was clear on how to get medical information to them. Their status updates were also great.

In the full year I've been with them I…

In the full year I've been with them I placed 4 claims. They covered 0 of expenses, every time apologizing and saying they can't cover pre-existing conditions such as...wait for it...diarrhea. Only to then call Diarrhea the most common symptom for almost any and all problems dog might have. Last time was less than 2 weeks ago (around 5/13/2024) when I took one of my dogs to an ER service because a) explosive diarrhea out of the blue, b) dehydrated and panting and c) extreme abdominal pain. The diagnosis after paying $1200 was gastroenteritis which is guess what...evidenced by the swelling of the colon and wait for it...diarrhea. So they can't cover anything. Not even the xrays they took to discard obstructions. Not even the lab tests. But they do want me to renew with them so they can get another 1K from me next year. Insane. Awful.

My vet said my dog never had this

My veterinarian wrote my dog has NEVER had a seizure. You have the letter. Yet because I asked a question, and her vet said kibble getting caught in teeth caused this, you wrote this as a condition. She has never had a claim for this because she doesn’t have it, but you ignored her veterinarians letter explaining reason for misunderstanding and just put it down as something that could expire. Again no claims just wanted it removed because not true. I feel as does my husband that your company looks for problems that don’t exist. Again nothing to do with a claim since nothing to claim. I don’t disagree with gingivitis although mild so have no problem with that. I will be giving GiGi a dental in the near future. I do disagree with a sore on her muzzle being equated with a sore in her mouth and you have a letter from the vet who saw her saying they are not the same. Too many denials compared to friends and family who have Trupanion and Fetch. Your claims people are nice and they are polite we are just not happy when GiGi has conditions listed she does not have.
