TOTAL SCAM!!!

Hi! AKC Pet Insurance is a TOTAL scam- please save your money or go with another pet insurance carrier. You basically have to pay for every tier in order for anything to be included. They don't even pay for Exams if your dog is sick.... TOTAL TOTAL SCAM!!!

Scam, don't waist your time

Bought one of their most expensive plans at $125 per month. We had a puppy that started having diarrhea and the vet recommended an abdominal ultrasound to rule out a blockage. Total for visits and ultrasound was just under $2k. This scam of a company paid $40. Don't waste your money. Will be saving the $125 per month from now on.

Seems to be a joke

Bought puppy and bought insurance. Went for 1st exam and vet heard heart murmur. In Dec. Hope he would out grow it went to get echocardiogram in Feb. Was told i would get zero help due to not waiting another month or jan to get heart checked. Lol i know they in business to male money. But i think hearing heart murmur that a pup can grow out of and waiting more than the 30day waiting period to confirm if there is a heart issue and be told wont cover seems to he a joke. Plus there was zero follow up like i was told. I had to wait and wait and finally call to hear they woupdnt cover. Now this also after i was told in jan that by waiting till 3rd week of Feb that this woupd be covered and i should renew the policy which i did. So seems they tell you what you want to hear to sell a policy till you need to file claim. Canceling policy asap and buyer beware

Horrible insurance, liars and thieves

The folks you talk to to start a plan, super nice, informative, and friendly. But once they got you, then you talk to claims department. I paid for the extras with Hereditary Plus. We ended up having a claim, our baby has Alopecia. Paid about $900 for treatment, meds, visits. Turned it in. Was informed our claim was denied due to preexisting conditions. I called in talked to someone in customer service. They said they do not cover preexisting conditions. I told them it’s a congenital hereditary condition, so my plan should cover it. The guy then told me I could file a redetermination request form but he doubts it would change anything. I told him you guys just use whatever you can to squirm out of a claim??? He said yes sir! I asked to speak to a manager, he said okay went to transfer me and hung up on me. This company is the worst most lying unethical pet insurance company out there and shame on The AKC for recommending them. Stay away!

I’ve been with this insurance since Oct. last year. I signed up for because they are only one who pays for pre-existing condition. It says 365 days waiting period. If they told you pre-existing, didn’t they tell you to wait 365 days to cover ? I was wondering… Did you switch to other company?
