The only reason this is a 3-star review was because of the kind staff and vet techs that assisted my family during our difficult time. Long story short, we took our sick dog in and had Nanez as our vet. While his assessment was correct about our pet passing away at any time, there was a sort-of short and callous approach about everything mentioned during the visit. I get it, our dog was very sick and wasn't expected to live. But if the visit was based on how lax he was, standing up against a wall with his arms crossed during this visitation, almost without any human compassion, he would've taken my every cent. I'm not asking he jump through hoops on fire for us, etc., but human empathy and investment is free. He just seemed uninterested. Doing so in front of him, I got a second opinion from my cousin, who is a vet in Laredo. I do want to thank the blonde female agent with glasses that assisted us today (1-7-26) when taking in our deceased pet for cremation, unfortunately I didn't catch her name. She was very sympathetic and helpful, offering any and all assistance possible. I asked for a small favor, that our dog's paw prints be stamped on some paper or index cards before he was sent off for cremation. She did just that, even apologized for the prints not being totally perfect, which was absolutely okay with us. I felt a little better with her assisting my son & I. I'll be picking up my pet's ashes when they arrive and that'll be the last time I visit this location. So as long as Nanez is there, please do your research on finding a better location for your pet's healthcare needs. If you're ever in Laredo, please look up Dr. Marty Reyes for your pet's healthcare needs.

We have 2 dogs we inherited from family and one is about 14 years old and starting to have health complications. They have been so sweet and caring and awesome with her. The other is a big 7 year old pit bull who thinks she is a 10 month old teacup chihuahua. They are fabulous with her as well. We don't want to go anywhere else with our precious fur babies. Great Vets and great all around team. Try them for yourself. You'll see the difference in how they treat our four legged loved ones and us as well. ❤️

The most compassionate, knowledgeable, and caring veterinary team I’ve ever encountered. My dog, Snooki, spent about a week in the care of Dezavala-Shavano Veterinary Clinic, and I will never be able to thank this team enough. From the front desk to the nurses, techs, and Dr. Melanie Wilcox-Faulkner herself — every single person treated Snooki (and me) with so much kindness, patience, and genuine compassion. It was an incredibly tough and emotional time, thinking I might lose her, but every staff member went above and beyond — explaining updates clearly, listening with empathy, and showing such human connection and respect. Dr. Wilcox-Faulkner is a real-life superhero who never gave up on my girl and gave me back hope when I needed it most. Snooki is now slowly getting better each day, and it’s all thanks to their dedication, skill, and heart. They didn’t just care for a sick dog — they cared for a family member. I even want to shout out the wonderful front-desk woman and her sweet daughter who let me meet the clinic cats one day — that small act of kindness meant the world when my heart was heavy. I got Snooki my freshman year of college, and now, years later, I’m in my final class before graduation — and because of this team, I get to finish that chapter with her still by my side. ❤️ Thank you to every single person at Dezavala-Shavano Veterinary Clinic for your compassion, professionalism, and heart. You’ve truly changed our lives for the better. — Catherine G. & Snooki 🐾

I can’t say enough great things about this veterinary clinic! They took such amazing care of my cat Persephone and made both of us feel completely at ease. The entire staff was friendly, professional, and clearly passionate about animals. A special shoutout to Lauren Morgan, who was absolutely incredible as our vet tech. Her kindness, patience, and gentle touch made a huge difference during our visit. Lauren went above and beyond to make sure my cat was comfortable, and she explained everything to me clearly and with genuine care. Also a huge shoutout to Dr. Harrison, who is not only an incredibly knowledgeable and skilled veterinarian. He took the time to thoroughly explain everything, answered all my questions with patience, and truly showed he cares about his patients. You can tell he’s in this field for all the right reasons. It’s rare to find someone who treats your pet like their own, and Lauren and Dr. Harrison did just that. I truly appreciate the time and attention they gave us. If you're looking for a clinic where they treat your pets like a family member then they will be in the great hands and this is the place. Highly recommend them!

I brought my cat to get treated after developing a wound under her chin. I tried to treat her myself, and she would always try to scratch me. Let me tell you, they were very kind and handled her so well!!! I've never seen her act that calm before when being treated. They also have like 5 office cats and a fish tank! I will definitely be coming back. P.s. I loved their wall art 😆
