How to Save Money at Acres North Animal Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

🌟 Outstanding First Visit – Gigi and I Felt Truly Cared For 🐾💖 Review: I had an amazing first experience at Acres North Veterinary Hospital with my teacup Yorkie puppy, Gigi. From the moment we walked in, everyone was incredibly welcoming, patient, and sweet with her. Alicia, our technician, was so gentle and kind — she made Gigi feel calm and secure. Dr. Laine Tiedeman was wonderful! She explained everything clearly and took the time to answer all my questions as a first-time puppy mom. Her calm and loving approach made me feel confident and reassured. Kacie and Linda at the front desk were also lovely — friendly, warm, and caring throughout the whole process. It truly felt like we were surrounded by people who love what they do and care deeply for animals. The clinic is clean, organized, and filled with positive energy. Gigi and I are so happy to have found a vet team we can trust. I highly recommend Acres North to any pet parent looking for compassionate and professional care. 🐶💕 UPDATE 08/04/2025 We came back to Acres North today — this time for little Alice’s first visit! 💜💜 From the moment we walked in, Linda, Lily, and Sarah at the front desk welcomed us with such warmth and smiles. Gigi came along just to support her baby sister, but they still treated her like a queen! 👑🐶 Not only did both pups get treats (which they loved, of course 😋), but the team even weighed Gigi just to update her chart — even though she wasn’t scheduled. That little detail alone says so much about the care they give! Dr. Tiedeman and Alicia were absolutely lovely — kind, patient, and playful. We all shared a laugh when someone pointed out that Alice and Dr. Tiedeman have matching curly hairstyles! 🐩👩‍⚕️ It was such a fun moment, and honestly, it’s true! 😄 Everyone went above and beyond, treating both girls with love and making sure we felt valued and at ease too. You can really tell this team loves what they do. It wasn’t just a vet visit — it was a feel-good experience from start to finish. Thank you, Acres North, for being so sweet, attentive, and caring — every single time. We’re truly grateful to have found you. – Gigi & Alice’s mom 💕 UPDATE ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wonderful experience at Acres North! Both of my little girls, Gigi and Maple, came in to get their microchips, and everything went perfectly. Sara, the vet tech who took care of them, was absolutely amazing! At first, I was a bit nervous because they were gone for a while — but it turned out they had been “kidnapped” just to get some extra love and cuddles. 🥰 When they came back, they were both so happy and calm, clearly enjoying all the attention. I truly appreciate how gentle and caring Sara was with my babies. You can tell she genuinely loves animals. Highly recommend Acres North for anyone who wants their pets treated with kindness and heart. 💕🐾

This place was a life saver for one of our cats. It was an emergency and they said bring him in now! We did and they ran tests on site and had our cat feeling better in no time. I'll continue to bring our cats here. Trusted business. Very friendly and helpful staff. Fantastic animal care too!

I’ve been bringing our dogs here for the last 5 years, I am convinced there is no better vet to care for our babes! Dr T has done such a great job taking care of our boy after we got an Epilepsy diagnoses, and Dr Moerbe has been great with my girl with skin issues the last few years. The receptionists are always amazing, while Miss Kacie is our favorite, we still love everyone the same and look forward to seeing their friendly faces at each visit. Highly recommend Acres North for all your pet care needs 🤗🤗

Overpriced for the Quality of Care I brought my dog here for an ear wound that became infected because he wouldn’t allow me to clean it properly at home. While the staff was friendly, accommodating a same day appointment, and the clinic itself is spotless and modern, the actual care and value for the price left a lot to be desired. Despite being professionals, the staff told me they could only clean the wound "as much as he would let us," which is exactly the problem I came in with. I was still charged $79 for a "clip and clean" and $46 for an "ear flush" that didn’t fully happen. They prescribed multiple medications: $26.60 for ear drops, $82.04 for eye drops, and two oral medications totaling $83.88. But here's the kicker.... they couldn’t administer the drops or even show me how to because my dog wouldn’t let them, which again, is why I sought professional help in the first place. Now I'm left with over $100 in meds I may not even be able to use. They also advertise $25 off your first visit, but upon mentioning it they tell me only if it’s a basic check-up. Realistically, how many people go in for their first visit just for a routine check-up? It's misleading. Lastly, they tacked on a $12.50 OSHA compliance fee. Why am I paying for your business to meet basic safety standards? That should be your responsibility, not your customers. My total bill came out to $528.02, and all I actually received and can use are the two oral medications, which I can only hope for and pray will be enough. Overall, I felt like I paid a premium price for subpar results. I wouldn’t return here unless there were no other options available. I added a before and after picture of their performed service so you can see what kind and quality of care they provide. **Update 5/8/25 (48 hours after initial visit)** The clinic called me today to check on my dog and see how he was doing. I really appreciate that gesture. I also want to clarify that I don’t have anything against the clinic itself or the people working there. They seem to be extremely nice and accommodating. My issue is strictly with the pricing in relation to the service received. The bottom line is: the service is decent and acceptable, I just don’t feel it matches the high cost. I agreed to the high cost because I assumed the outcome to be of higher completion and quality. So again nothing wrong with the place other than premium pricing for extremely nice interactions from employees and basic mediocre quality of services provided.

I bring all 3 of my pets here ( 2 cats and a dog) and they are nothing short of amazing. From the front desk (I think her name is Kelsey), to Dr Tiedman, I can’t recommend this place more! Every time I walk in there they always ask how my other pets are doing, and always give a follow up call the next day. Very personable and make you feel like you’re part of the family with them. Highly recommend his amazing office with amazing staff :)
