How to Save Money at TLC Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Took 2 dogs and a cat to TLC over the past 10+ years, and I shadowed there in high school, and I have absolutely loved them. Dr. Richardson took care of my family dog when he was old and then when he was passing, and the team was so amazing. I shadowed them and some other clinics in the area when I was in high school and I always felt the staff at TLC was the most caring and accommodating of them all. Even when I wasn't living in the area, I brought my dog with me when visiting family so they could get their check ups at TLC. My dog has had lots of skin issues and a couple bouts of pancreatitis, once going into a holiday weekend, and Dr Kueker and the team were so helpful with getting him set up to be seen at Gulf Coast for continued care. When I moved to downtown Houston, I still drove my dog and cat here for check ups. I moved out of the state last month and am accepting that I finally have to find another vet and I am very sad about it. Harry, Oliver and I will miss TLC very much!

Doctor Lexi is the best and I've been a loyal customer since Diane & Catherine opened the doors back in the late 1990's.

TLC Animal Hospital was amazing to me. Dr Kuecker loves your animals as her own and is such an amazing person as well as a veterinarian. I am so blessed to have had her through everything with my senior dog, as she was diagnosed with diabetes and started getting seizures she was extremely helpful. Even while putting her down she was amazing and supportive throughout the entire process. The vet technicians and front office people are all very friendly, helpful and kind as well.

We started with TLC in 2020 after moving to the area and they have been our vets since then. Dr. Richardson has been there through our senior cat’s last moments and was very hands on during my dog’s cancer diagnosis last year and her untimely passing due to it. The staff there knew and loved our babies and took such good care of them during appointments and when we boarded with them so many times. The tech who helped with my cat’s passing cried with us and loved our French Fry (dog) a great deal. We now bring our 4 foster fails (1 dog and 3 cats) to them and receive the same level of attention and care. Dr. Richardson obviously has a deep love for the animals in her care and takes as much time as is needed. She never pushes unnecessary treatments or tests and is always upfront about what she thinks is absolutely necessary and what might be helpful but not required. I will always bring my babies here and know that they will love on them and take the best care of them.

Hands down the best veterinarians and staff in a 50 mile radius! They love what they do and you can tell! From our 1st experience there, after being told we have an aggressive dog, we were told we in fact have a dog with a ton of anxiety! Every single person there is gentle and knowledgeable! It makes a difference! Our beloved golden retriever Cooper loves going there because he knows how loved he is there! This is not an office full of high stressed techs that stress you and your animal out, the techs and staff there are so very kind and friendly, they actually help you feel at ease! We are so lucky to have found this gem of an office right in the middle of the Bay Area! We can’t thank them enough!
