How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Alief Animal Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Eduardo groomed my Border Collie’s hair perfectly! Lalo’s coat shines now after his bath and his nails along with his fur are trimmed neatly. In addition, they updated all of his annual vaccinations for a good price of $99 called dog pack premium. Lalo’s teeth look fresh and his ears are clean. Eduardo cleaned Lalo’s backside as well all for the price of $55 for his grooming fee. Thank you so much and we will be back next year!

Where do I start? The place might not look super fancy, and they don’t take appointments — it’s all walk-ins, kind of like the county animal hospital. But if you can look past that, you’ll find a real hidden gem right here in Alief! They offer all kinds of vet care at prices that are actually affordable, and they truly care about your pets. I’m so thankful for the team here — they’ve been amazing every time I’ve brought my fur babies in.

⁉️‼️⁉️!!!IF YOU LOVE AND CHERISH YOUR PETS DONT BRING THEM HERE. JUST READ THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS!!!⁉️‼️⁉️ I strongly urge pet owners to seek emergency care elsewhere. For your pet’s safety and well-being, please choose a facility that truly understands the meaning of the word “emergency.” Your pet’s life may depend on it. I had a deeply concerning experience at this facility. My cat had undergone surgery only two days earlier, and we came in due to complications. When the vet tech, identified to me as Juan Cervantes, took her to be weighed, he grabbed her by the scruff, flipped her onto her back, and held her there to weigh her. This method was unnecessarily forceful and completely inappropriate, especially considering her recent surgery. She has never been weighed this way before — she is always gently lifted by staff or placed on the scale by me when asked. Throughout the process, he continued to handle her by the scruff and was rough around her surgical site. After flipping her upright again, he struck her hindquarters — the area with her sutures — against the counter. I immediately voiced my concern to the veterinarian and explained exactly what had happened, including that the impact to the incision area could lead to infection. The vet tech denied his actions, became defensive, and refused to provide his last name. The veterinarian repeatedly tried to change the subject and minimize what occurred. Only after I continued to bring the issue back to the forefront was my cat finally prescribed antibiotics. The handling my cat received was rough, inappropriate, and done with full knowledge of her very recent surgery. The unwillingness to acknowledge the situation and the defensive behavior from both the technician and the veterinarian made the experience even more distressing. This facility should not be allowed to use the word “hospital” in its name. The term implies urgency, compassion, and immediate medical attention — none of which are provided here. Pet owners are led to believe that emergencies will be prioritized, yet even critical cases are forced to wait hours. A four-hour wait for an emergency is not only unacceptable, it is dangerous. It is clear why many people end up here — not everyone has thousands of dollars to spend at premium clinics. But affordability should never come at the cost of ethics, humanity, or basic emergency care. This establishment operates in a way that feels untrustworthy and unethical, and the treatment of emergency situations is inhumane. The countless low-star reviews tell the same story over and over again. After reading them, it becomes hard to understand how anyone with compassion could allow these situations to continue. The atmosphere alone is hostile — cold expressions from the front desk, dismissive attitudes, and an overall environment that reflects a business model rather than a medical facility. Everything about this place raises red flags.

Everyone was so kind and took care of my baby elsa with kindness and compassion. My dog was 13 years old and in a lot of pain and bleeding to death. They took her in without an appointment and they took care of my Dog . Thank you for everything you do my dog is no longer suffering. These are good people with reasonable prices.

The only reason this clinic gets even one star is because of the doctors. They are kind, professional, and clearly care about the animals. Unfortunately, the front desk staff makes the entire experience unbearable. I’ve been here twice, and both times the front desk girls were some of the most disrespectful, rude, and unprofessional people I’ve ever dealt with. No manners, no empathy, and no basic customer service skills. You’re spoken to like you’re an inconvenience rather than a client bringing in a pet for care. The worst part was the complete lack of communication. I called the day before my visit to confirm hours and whether appointments were needed. I was told they don’t take appointments and that I could walk in anytime between 9–4. I rearranged my day and showed up within that window, only to be told they stop taking walk-ins at 12 and “couldn’t help me.” This was never mentioned on the phone. No apology. No acknowledgment of their mistake. Just attitude. It’s incredibly frustrating that a clinic with such good doctors is dragged down by a front desk staff that seems uninterested in doing their job correctly or treating people with basic respect. I truly hope management takes this seriously and replaces or retrains the front desk, because until then, I would not recommend this clinic to anyone — unless you’re willing to tolerate being disrespected just to see the doctors.
