How to Save Money at Memorial Villages Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I am very happy I found MVAH. We had our first appointment and I am very pleased. The staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome before you see the Dr. The people who answer the phone, Laura at the front desk, and our vet tech Kaylee, were all very friendly and knowledgeable. Dr Spellman is easy to talk to. She asked me questions and I asked her questions. She wasn’t in a hurry and spent a lot of time getting to know Grayson Buddy. Thank you all for caring and loving what you do. The Mullens GX4

This was our first time coming to MVAH. I was a bit nervous because my Miniature Schnauzer can be a little spicy with new people. I will usually direct how to go about earning her trust etc. with new people especially at a vet or grooming facility. As you can imagine some people are on board with it and actually take their time with her and others not so much. I was pleasantly surprised and appreciative at the care and consideration taken toward making sure that my pup felt comfortable while at MVAH. From when we first stepped through the door (Thank you Andrea and Laura!) to the exam room to the checking out process each and every person that we encountered showed such patience, kindness, and care toward my little dog. Tiggi was won over by the staff by the time we were checking out! I tell you that is no small feat! Dr. Spellman and Baylee, her technician were wonderful. I was so appreciative how Baylee listened to my suggestions on making friends with Tiggi and was so kind and attentive with her. Tiggi usually hates leaving me but did not have an issue going with Baylee to the back. That means the world to me. Dr. Spellman was very professional, calm and personable. I appreciated her taking her time with our appointment and answering all of my questions. That's hard to find at vet clinics nowadays. It seems like they're just trying to get you in and get you out versus really caring. Thank you MVAH for the wonderful experience!

I'm always anxious about taking my dogs to new vets for their first visit. Those of us who are pet parents, especially those like me who don't have kids and our pets ARE like kids to us, know the anticipation. I was referred to Memorial Village and as soon as I walked in the door, my dog Bailey and I were greeted with warm smiles, and hellos and I immediately felt at ease. Everyone I came into contact with in the clinic was so very sweet to me and my dog and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and at home. The clinic is clean and well maintained. I do not have insurance for my dog so I'm always concerned about the cost, as we are all very price conscious and trying to make our dollars stretch. After seeing the Dr., who was also very pleasant, sweet, and kind, she went over the cost and left it up to me to decide the best plan of action and treatment for my dog. I was very pleased when I saw the cost was both fair and budget friendly. Although the clinic isn't close to my house, I'm happy to say that I will most definitely be bringing my pups back. A kind word and a smile goes a long way and I can guarantee, you will get that and more with the staff. Needless to say, I highly recommend Memorial Village Animal Hospital.

Everyone was so friendly and really tried to make my nervous dogs comfortable. Dr. Walsh was fabulous! I feel like my visit was very helpful and put Lucy on a plan to heal her GI issues that I am hoping will work. Well worth the money! Went to gulf coast and only came home with probiotic and no recommendations for other medications or dietary changes. So glad I came in for a second opinion! Attention to detail during visit and during check in were greatly appreciated!

Memorial Villages has been such a great veterinarian. They are independently owned which has become INCREDIBLY important with animal care services. This keeps care more strategic and targeted while also keeping prices lower due to less overhead. The time taken and care put into each appointment is exceptional. Their facility is very clean, and their staffing level and skill exceeds the normal standards. Highly, highly recommend.
