How to Save Money at K9 Health Center
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I’ve had an amazing experience at K9 Health Center with two of my dogs receiving exceptional care. Rosie, my 14-year-old Chihuahua, has had serious health challenges including patellar luxation (knee displacement), arthritis, and three herniated discs that required surgery along with cervical decompression in January 2024. She’s been undergoing ongoing therapy here, including laser therapy and rehab sessions (swimming, hot tub, underwater treadmill, and massage). They even scan her weekly to track progress. The results have been incredible—Rosie now plays with our other dog, chases her around, and has significantly less pain. She’s even off pain medication! B’Olive, our 1-year-old Pomeranian, had bilateral knee surgery for patellar luxation at 7 months old and completed her therapy here. Thanks to their care, she’s back to agility training, and her trainer says she has great potential! The staff is professional, caring, and very thorough. They truly go above and beyond to ensure the best recovery for pets. The facility is clean, well-equipped, and the weekly progress scans are a great touch. Highly recommend K9 Health Center for anyone looking for top-notch rehab and therapy for their pets. They’ve given my dogs a new lease on life!

Our Cavalier King Charles was having trouble walking and getting around, but after just a few sessions at K9 Health Center, we saw a big improvement. She’s now moving so much better and seems much more comfortable. Her little sister also began swimming with her just for fun. If your dog is dealing with joint issues or mobility problems or your dog just wants to swim in a climate controlled environment, K9 Health Center is a fantastic place to go. The care and expertise they provide make a real difference!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Sandra and the entire K9 Hydro team. We first came here after our 5 year old dachshund, Cleo, went down with stage 5 IVDD in November 2024. After surgery, we were told she may never walk again. Heartbroken, we searched for ways to help her regain mobility, and by the grace of God and Texas A&M, we were referred to K9 Hydro. Today, our Cleo girl is officially walking on her own! With a baby due any day now, we are overjoyed knowing we’ll be able to enjoy family walks together. Sandra and her team truly changed our lives. Their patience, dedication, and love are unmatched. I could go on forever, but I’ll simply say this: do yourself and your fur baby a favor and bring them here. It’s worth everything. ❤️ Pics are from her first session👉🏼to today of her walking around!

When my beautiful 16 year old had a bad fall and became paralyzed, I was a wreck. I didn’t know what to do. She had been coming here already for mobility improvement and had been doing great, but not being able to walk was a whole different story. After hearing how much just an MRI was going to cost I was in shambles and reached out to Sandra desperate for help. Her and her amazing team got my Sadie girl back up to standing and walking again when I thought she never would. Sadly she passed away recently, but I owe everything to this place and am forever grateful for them. Love you Sadie❤️

Everyone at K9 health center has been amazing with my 8yrs old Shepsky, Brutus, while he gets water therapy for hip dysplasia. The benefits and muscle gained are obvious on our daily long walks, or when he plays with other pups…..he’s simply more mobile…..this is thanks to the pool and treadmill work K9 does alongside Brutus….plus the warm bubble water that helps ease inflammation is a must according to my pup……this is a very hands on facility, every step of the session is guided by very professional and kind staff. They know and learn how to communicate with both the animal and its handler. I was referred by somebody and I would highly recommend to anyone in need.
