Forgive me for the Novella but this one hit me in the heart this weekend. My husband and I picked up our 120 lb Cane Corso late in the afternoon returning from a trip. This was Friday and when he got home and away from the action at the K9 Resort he faded quickly. We assumed he was tired from the heat and action at boarding. The next morning we woke up to hime coughing so hard he was gagging on himself, pushing anything up and out of his stomach. His condition worsened by the hour so right away we called Dr. Granson's clinic (Urban Vet). This was a Saturday and completely booked but I was promptly called back and asked if we could be there and they'd do their best to work us in. Parking lot was a zoo, they were serious about being fully booked. They were genuinely concerned about all symptoms prior to making a diagnosis. Very clear explanation of what medications, why they were appropriate and how the work. Willingness to answer complex questions and disseminate the information in a way that we left with confidence in efficacy of the treatment plan. VERY reasonable pricing, especially considering this was an unscheduled emergency on a weekend. Support staff was amazing, patient and they set a calm tone to the room. I read a couple of derogatory reviews of this clinic and was less than impressed. Comments about the expense at the clinic and the competency of the Veterinarian. All I can say to that is Dr. Hilary Granson is an Ivy Leaguer from an institution whose Vet program has been consistently rated top 5 in the world and #1 in the USA, and she never mentions that part. She doesn't need your money and you will not find a vet with more competency and care. We have family that just spent ~$7k on their 2 dogs over a blockage that passed on its own and a snake bite. Our bill was maybe 5% of that & that included medication, education, and love & care.

Hidden local gem—these folks genuinely care about my senior pup. He’s 12 years old, runs circles around his younger friends at the dog park, and I love him dearly. We come here, not only for vacations and intermittent remedial health maintenance like teeth, but also the big stuff like surgeries. Notably, he had a mass removed from his right eye. Today, vision fully intact, we’re here for the seasonal flea stuff—he’s hamming the staff while I write this review. Great to come to a neighborhood place, where they know us by name, and love him like their own

I am so grateful for the amazing care my cat, Mellow, has received at Urban Animal Veterinary Hospital. He was diagnosed with a thyroid issue, and the entire team has been incredibly supportive and attentive throughout the process. From the moment we came in for the initial consultation, I felt like we were in the right hands. Dr. Granson took the time to explain everything clearly—what hyperthyroidism means, what symptoms to watch for, and the different treatment options available. They never rushed us and answered all my (many) questions with patience and compassion. What stood out to me was how gentle they were with Mellow. He’s usually anxious at the vet, but they handled him with such care that he seemed calmer than usual. They even followed up after our visit to check on how he was responding to the medication. That level of personal care means so much. The clinic is clean, welcoming, and well-organized, and every staff member I’ve interacted with has been kind, professional, and passionate about animals. Thanks to the team at Urban Animal Veterinary Hospital, Mellow is feeling better and back to his curious, cuddly self. I can’t recommend them enough if you're looking for a veterinary clinic that truly treats your pet like family.

Took our new rescue pup to get checked out by Dr. Granson. She was recommended by a friend of ours so we decided to give it a shot. Dr. Granson and her staff were incredibly friendly and patient. She listened to all of our concerns and explained everything clearly. We never felt rushed, and our dog was surprisingly calm the entire time. I would highly recommend Dr. Granson to any dog owners looking for a knowledgeable, caring vet.

I’ve never left a Google review, but I had to after our experience today. We have a very anxious, very timid Boxer mix. Everyone at Urban Animal Hospital was so kind to her and made her feel comfortable. Dr. Hillary and the nurse were amazing! We normally go to Banfield and I’ve never seen Deandra take to the vet staff the way she did today. Also, The staff at Banfield have never been so patient and gentle with Dee. Our first visit, but we will be switching to Urban for all veterinary needs for our girls ❤️
