How to Save on Veterinary Costs at East End Animal Surgery and Urgent Care

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

I cannot thank Dr. Gallegos and her team enough for the care and compassion they showed my cat, Eggroll. At 15 years old, she had been struggling with her health, and sadly it was time to say goodbye. The staff was incredibly kind and understanding throughout the entire process. They treated Eggroll with so much love and respect, and made sure she was comfortable and cared for until the very end. Even in such a difficult moment, I felt supported and reassured knowing that she was in the best hands. Dr. Gallegos explained everything with patience and compassion, which brought me peace during an emotional time. The private cremation service was also handled with the utmost respect, and I was grateful that it was both affordable and done with such dignity. This clinic truly goes above and beyond for their patients and their families, and I will always be grateful for the way they cared for Eggroll and helped me through this loss. I’m so sorry I couldn’t express my gratitude in person. You all are amazing and I’ll forever remember the kindness you showed my precious Eggroll in her final moments. Thank you.

They saved out cat’s life! Our cat had an obstructed bowel, and the first place we took her to was up to 10 thousand dollars to perform the life saving surgery! We couldn’t afford it, and were going to have to euthanize her, but they recommended trying this place first. Was able to get her in the same day at a price we could afford, and she is doing well now!

I brought Monkey on Sept after he ate some hairties. I had been referred from another location and the ladies at East End went above and beyond for the little guy. I came back again recently over some concerns and, again, they provided excellent care and service. I can guarantee that your babies will be safe and given the utmost care by all the lovely ladies in this location. Thank you, thank you, so much for everything you ladies do. Y'all are truly a gift. Thank you, thank you.

I brought my senior dog in for urgent care because I suspected an ear infection. I called several vet urgent care in the Houston area and they were priced most reasonably at $80 or so. I was appreciative of this & that they’re open on Sundays as our regular vet isn’t open on weekends. The staff was friendly and helpful, and I appreciated that we were one of the first two clients when they opened. He was examined and given ear cleaner and pain medication. However, despite arriving early, the visit took nearly three hours. What was most upsetting was what I discovered once we got home. After removing my dog’s harness and leash, I found smeared feces inside the harness and across his chest. It was extremely unhygienic and shocking. I have no way of knowing how or when this happened, but it clearly went unnoticed and unaddressed before my dog was returned to me. While accidents can happen, the fact that my dog was sent home in this condition shows a lack of basic attention to cleanliness and care. That discovery overshadowed any positives from the visit and left me questioning the level of care being provided, especially for vulnerable senior pets. Because of this experience, I would not recommend this clinic.

I'll be very straightforward. I recently went to this urgent care due to a concerning matter regarding my pet who was being suddenly very lethargic. I went in hoping to get some help at a decent price. First red flag that i noticed was that i never once spoke to the veterinarian of the establishment. I spoke to 3 different vet techs regarding what was the matter with my dog all in which were passing information to the veterinarian. It was more like a "he said she said" without actually talking to the veterinarian once and getting their reassurance. Eventually after explaining what was wrong, they come back with a quote in the upper $900 for xrays and bloodwork not considering treatment. I understand urgent cares are for sudden emergencies but its not reasuring when i get asked 3 times whats wrong , not talk to a vet directly and then get greeted with a $900+ quote. Another thing is the fact that my dog was muzzled when she was clearly very weak as she was very dehydrated and lethargic as mentioned and it broke my heart to see it as she was clearly scared out of her mind walking out as sick as she was. She was given a shot for the day as i decided to wait and take her to her usual vet in the morning. One last thing, chewing and popping bubble gum while with a patient is not appropriate especially with repetitive popping sounds. Not very professional. I wish i had a better experience.
