How to Save Money at EaDo Veterinary Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My dog is turning 21 years this fall, and traveling to the Gulf Coast ophthalmologist for her glaucoma checks has become too hard on her. After calling several clinics near downtown Houston, I found only two with a tonometer to measure intraocular pressure—EaDo Veterinary Clinic was one of them. Dr. Farmer was exceptional. My dog is blind and terrified of males, especially in stressful vet environments. But he spoke in a soft, whisper-like tone that soothed her instantly. She usually trembles through appointments, but not in this visit. Now I am thinking of switching my cat's vet to EaDo vet.

Dr. Farmer, the ladies who work up front, and all of the techs are so friendly and welcoming! Dr. Farmer helped get our cat's back healed when others couldn't and now he and the whole crew will watch our new puppy grow up. We love this place and our fur babies do too.

Much like most furry friend owners, my dogs will always be my babies. When I moved to Houston, I "shopped" around a wee bit trying to find a Vet that I felt was knowledgeable but also supportive of my Chihuahuas who are known to be a little spicy. EADO Vet Clinic went ABOVE and BEYOND for the 5+ years I went there with my three Chihuahuas. From the moment I walked in, the front desk staff was always incredibly friendly, welcoming, positive, and professional. The waiting room is VERY clean and there was never a time where it felt too chaotic with too many guests. All of the nurses and doctors were quick to come in the rooms for appointments. They really individualized the care they provided for my dogs, and they took the time to explain the why behind the what to me to ensure I understood what was happening (good and bad). One of my small dogs can also be a little vicious, and they were very calm and understanding with her temperament. Bonus shout out is how quick they answer any questions, refill prescriptions, and provided any records I needed for groomers. They really run an extraordinary clinic that leads with customers feeling like family.

My pup loves this place. Dr.Farmer and his team have taken such good care of my pup for that reason he is always so happy when we come for a check up or for any of his needs. The price is very reasonable, the care is extraordinary, the staff is kind and amazing. Would highly recommend and encourage pet owners to give this place a shot.

Absolutely horrible customer service. About six months ago I made an appt to get an allergy shot for my dog. I came in and was told that they gave my shot away to another dog that was scene before me. Today I called to make another appt for the allergy shot, got it scheduled for tomorrow and I asked if they could just double check to make sure they have the medicine since this happened before. Waited on hold for 10 mins then someone else picked up, explained the whole situation again and she said, oh that medication is on back order and we are not sure when we will get it in again. So why did the receptionist schedule an appointment. So now I need to go to another vet and play for a $90 physical to get the $90 shot. Don't waste your time with this place.
