How to Save Money at Coastal Veterinary Dermatology & Ear Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
This review is long overdue. The staff at Coastal Vet are incredible, providing unparalleled care, empathy, and compassion for my handsome man. While you might expect every veterinary facility to have these qualities, many fall short. With two French bulldogs and an English bulldog, our frequent flyer miles at the vet add up quickly due to their health issues. I want to give a special thank you to Tanya and Dr. Keating, who inspired me to write this review. My dad passed away suddenly, and we had to reschedule an appointment. When I brought my boy to the rescheduled visit, Tanya was incredible. Her kind words and empathy were a lifeline during my deep struggle. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, Tanya. Your amazing smile and energy light up the clinic, and for that, I am extremely thankful. Now to Dr. Keating: Wow, just wow. She is the best veterinarian I have ever met. Having lived in many states across the U.S. and seen numerous vets, Dr. Keating stands out. My boy had severe allergies that nearly shut his eardrum and affected his paws and body. Other vets’ treatments failed, but Dr. Keating immediately knew how to treat him. She provided a well-explained, thorough treatment plan that cleared everything up and prevented the need for surgery. Sadly, I had to move back to California, but I am deeply thankful to the entire staff for their love and exceptional care. Coastal Vet felt like home. Though always booked, they are worth the wait, providing top-tier care and prioritizing your pet’s well-being over revenue. I wish Coastal Vet continued success and thank them for changing my perspective on veterinary care. You all rock!

Dr. Rossi and his staff are just wonderful. My dog Tucker isn't a fan of people, but he just loves them! We've struggled to get his itching under control for some time, that's when I found Coastal Veterinary Dermatology. I'm so glad I did! They are so kind and full of information. Dr. Rossi always makes sure Tucker is taken care of and I can't forget about Alex. He always makes sure to take the time to explain everything. I would highly recommend them!

I cannot thank Dr. Rossi and his team enough! My Boston Terrier has had a recurring ear infection for almost a year. At first glance by most vets, it didn't look like an infection because it was so deep. So, when my boy started getting a head tilt and showing some vestibular issues, I reached out to every specialist in Houston. The only vet who was able to diagnose, treat, and heal my dog was Dr. Rossi. Even his head tilt has corrected! I drive an hour (one-way) to see him, and it's worth every minute! If your dog has skin or ear issues, do not wait any longer. Go see this awesome team! Thank you, Dr. Rossi and Team!

We loved everything about our experience at Coastal Vet; everyone on staff is friendly and caring. Dr. Rossi exceeded our expectations; he is a literal walking encyclopedia of knowledge. He was so patient and took the time to explain everything in detail. Our Milo has had allergy issues since he was a pup and is now 6. Every year, things got progressively worse; everything from diarrhea to vomiting, ear infections, face rashes, itchy eyes, and rashes on his paws and underarms. Our local vets, although great, only put a band-aid on all his problems. Nothing was improving overmuch and we can't tell you how many visits we had there. Dr. Rossi identified the problem, eliminated some meds he was on and changed his food...to start. We left feeling so relieved and are confident that things will get better for our little guy. Thank you so much, Dr. Rossi! I’m sure every patient will be different, but we actually saved money coming here, vs our normal vet office. Suffice to say, we’re very grateful to have found this clinic.

Dr. Rossi helped my 13-year old German Shepherd Lilly who has been struggling with deep skin infections on her abdomen and paws for months. He immediately recognized that her skin problems root in the conformational changes of her back body (she has lumbosacral stenosis) that I would have never thought of. Also, per his recommendation, Lilly has been wearing shoes on her rear legs, which allows her to have better footing and protects her sensitive pads. Because of Dr. Rossi and his team Lilly's paws have finally cleared up the infection and she has been feeling so much better!
