How to Save Money at Bear Creek Animal Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Very kind clinic. We brought our baby here hoping for the best and planning for the worst. They were very good to him and gave us options for treatment if we felt we wanted to go that route. In the end we decided to euthanize our precious little boy (kidney failure), but the staff was very compassionate and gave us time and space to make the decision we knew needed to be made. Not the best circumstances to visit a vet for the first time, but I would definitely return

The staff is wonderful and welcoming and their services are fairly priced. I have a German Shepherd who is reactive towards other dogs and can be with strangers when with me. I requested that I stay in my car with him until they were ready due to their lobby being relatively small to ensure he wouldn’t react while waiting especially since our appointment was on Saturday at 10 am, I thought they would be busy. We arrived early and they were quick to get us inside whenever they were ready. Kobe did good with the staff when they took him back which I expected, they did the vaccine he needed, heart-worm test and treatment for an ear infection in a good timely manner. The heart-worm result came back immediately, I was expecting a couple days because of my experience with other vet clinics, they also have a wide variety of prevention to select from. We will definitely be back and will be recommending to anyone I know who needs a regular vet.

Was disappointed today.A Harris county Veterinary assistant advised me that my Dog only had one testicle and it was recommended to have surgery because the other hidden one in his groin area could turn into cancer. I’ve been taking my Dog to this location since a puppy. He is now 8 years old. WHY WAS I NOT INFORMED OF THIS AT THIS LOCATION?!!? It just goes to show THEY DO NOT CHECK HIM THROUGHLY. Yeah the Doctor is nice but what good is it if her and her staff do not do the physical exam correctly. You lost my business today. And I know I’m just one customer you’re losing it’s not going to break your bank but what’s more important is my dogs health risks that you did not inform me of. Why are yall doing this type of “business” if you can’t even do the basics. Even one time I asked a question to one of the front desk ladies and she walked to the back to ask someone as if she didn’t want to ask about my concern and I was bothering her. Literally threw her head back and walked forcibly to the back when walking. I hate to write bad reviews but my Dog’s life is important to me and that’s why I brought him here wish yall took things more seriously. Response from your response: One thing is that it’s noted and another is communicating it to me. I am positive that if I had known I would have made arrangements to have him neutered. I was never suggested for surgery due to his one testicle or advised of the risks.

I brought my dog here for an exam because I was looking for a new vet and saw they offered a free pet exam for first-time patients. I was so impressed! You can sense that the staff has a genuine love for their jobs, and they treated my sweet girl with such gentleness and care. The doctor was extremely knowledgeable, attentive, and kind. I’m grateful for this experience because I haven’t been able to afford quality vet care for my dog since before Covid and I was feeling anxious about this visit. Now we can’t wait to come back! Thank you Bear Creek Animal Clinic!!

These are the kind of hidden, behind the scenes, no-flash all-effort good folks that you wished lived near you that one time you had that one weird problem with your pet. They ain’t got fancy computer applications or automated appointment calendars, but what they do have is that they give a hoot. They care about your pet and they’re gonna do right by them. I thinks that’s all you can ask for from a veterinarian, if someone asked me. Be patient, do the paperwork, and your special friend will be well looked after by some high-quality folks.
