How to Save Money at Friendswood Animal Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

This was our first time at Friendswood but we were very pleased with the attention and service that we received. We love Dr Spencer! My only complaint was the cost seemed about double what I have been paying but I will do it to have my pets taken care of by Dr Spencer. She takes her time to get to know your fur baby and takes excellent care of them under any situation.

Our first visit was wonderful! My human was very anxious as she hadn't had a fur baby for over 16 years. Everyone welcomed me with a smile, hugs, kisses, and superior service. My doctor Melloy was very nice and gentle when I got my vaccine, and I even got a yummy treat 😋 for being such a good puppy! Ty Friendswood Animal Clinic!!

New to town, and needed a trustworthy vet. My dog is… particular, which has made me the same for her sake lol. She’s my whole world and the best companion, so I always want to give her the BEST of the best. First I wanna say I was shocked at the price. THIS PLACE IS SO AFFORDABLE. I was expecting to pay well over $450+ for the exam fee, blood panel, parasite screen etc, as that’s what’s I’m used to… NOPE. Under $370… So I’m thrilled to have saved $130+ than expected! Lol They were able to get me in same day for an afternoon appointment which I scheduled as a meet and greet and bloodwork. The front was very clean, and quiet. Receptionist kind and prompt with me and other clients as well from what i saw. The exam room was clean, and smelled good too! The vet tech was extremely kind and gentle with my girl, and I could hear them in the back telling her how cute and good she was (which made my heart happy). The Dr was extremely kind and Informative as well and assured me that boogies was in good health and in safe hands there. They allowed me to prebook with the same Dr and tech for my girl’s future appointment so she can have consistency and not be overwhelmed/anxious. While she was a little nervous after the blood draw (understandably), she was not shut down or anxious and pacing/panting which has happened at other places while searching and concerned me. They really took the time to get to know boogies history and get to know both of us personally. They made me feel like a great pet owner, assuring me I did great with her previous surgeries (luxating patella’s) and keeping her at a healthy weight. They really tooted her horn on how cute and good she was. Finding a new vet after a move, for a dog who is easily anxious/overstimulated and is aging, is SO stressful, and I feel beyond relieved to have found this clinic along with the dr and tech. HIGHLY RECOMMEND if you want a good safe space for your vet.

At Friendswood Animal Clinic the staff were very kind and worked in a next day appointment for our Zoey. She was suffering from skin irritation and licking a lot! She’d been seen elsewhere a month prior but no improvement after medication and time. Dr. Spencer was fantastic, super friendly and kind to our girl and us. She was very knowledgeable. She reviewed Zoey’s records of her 9 year life, prior to giving us a path forward. She took her time addressing our questions and concerns. We are grateful for the progress our Zoey is making and the genuine care and concern shown to us by Friendswood Animal Clinic. Shout out to Dr. Spencer❣️
