How to Save Money at Dr. Bill Bledsoe

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr Bledsoe has been the greatest vet I’ve ever had. He’s compassionate, caring, loves his patients! I do not have to frequent the office often but when needed he is the go to and the best. Until 2 weeks ago I called RD everyday 3-4 times a Day trying to get an appointment to be told he wasn’t in didn’t know when he’d be in. Yesterday I finally got a 1:30 appointment. Got there at 1:05 to be told he’s gone. Yes, I was upset! RD said he had written me an RX for an antibiotic. He had the paperwork from Fetch Er. vet in Greenville last week. Supposedly went over the notes from Fetch which says the dog is in congestive heart failure. What good is an antibiotic going to do? He hasn’t seen her. He hasn’t even called me. I’m sure something is going on in his personal life he has never been this unconcerned. I pray he’s not ill. Oh yesterday I was told he won’t be back until Wednesday. RD thank you for caring.

This place was something else. I have as wanting to bring my dog here for a problem with her foot being swollen I made an appointment and the day of they sent me via text and said that the doctor had an emergency and had to cancel mind you my poor babies foot looks horrible and so I went by there and made another appointment and again they canceled that appointment said their system was down remind you still my poor little babies foot still swollen and leaking junk out of it. Ended up taking to another vet which cost over 850.00 and still her foot is swollen took X-rays blood work and still don’t know what’s wrong with her foot. I called this place back to see if the doctor would just take a look at her foot for me I even asked saying please the person on the phone was actually the doctor and proceeded to let me know they don’t have any appointments til August 9 and again I said is there anyway you can just look at her foot please and again the doctor gave me the same excuse can’t see her til August 9 so needless to say I will never use this place for my babies

Dr. Bledsoe is an excellent vet. He has cared for eight of my Boston Terriers over the past three years, and we are very happy with the care he has given. His prices are also very reasonable. He gives a very thorough physical exam, and explains everything he does as he goes along. I am a Registered Nurse and am very happy to see how Dr. Bledsoe explains everything in laymans terms, and teaches the pet owner about symptoms to look for and report back to him. The office is clean and sanitized between fur-patients. I would never see any other vet in Spartanburg!

Been going to Dr Bledsoe for about 8 years now. Currently he takes care of our two cats and dog. Kush, Vern and Andy have the best care with Dr Bledsoe and RD. They are attentive, knowledgable and very compassionate towards all my animals. dr Bledsoe is old school which i love and takes his time with them as well as taking the time to explain everything to you. His prices are very reasonable. Dr bledsoe and Rd are about patient care and it shows in every visit and every phone call. Will never take my animals anywhere else!

Dr. Bledsoe was so very nice and explained everything he was doing during our cats exam. We will be taking more to him in the coming months. Thanks for being so thorough and teaching us what to look for.
