How to Save Money at Banfield Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Dr. Little has been amazing with 3 of my fur babies. She goes above and beyond and makes sure everything is understood. She follows up and helps with all concerns. The rest of the team is incredibly kind and patient. My cat that passed away recently was incredibly difficult to deal with. She was very aggressive. Sedatives barely worked on her, so these wonderful people took care of her while protecting themselves and making sure Onyx didn't hurt herself. I moved an hour away, yet still take my dog there to see them. I trust them completely and know my babies are in great hands.

Super disappointed in my experience so far and have not even been able to get my dog in to be seen. It’s been a back and forth process since July due to office staff improperly taking down my information for the appointments, or not properly scheduling my dog for the correct appointment type. Most recently, they called me the day before to cancel as they realized my dog wasn’t booked for the proper appointment type. I was then given the option to get him in almost a month later. When I politely brought up these concerns on the back and forth issues to get my dog seen, they seem unconcerned in keeping my business. Truly a bummer on all fronts as Banfield seems to be in high regard for care and service.

If I could give this place no stars, this clinic ranks at zero. I had a vaccination appointment canceled last minute right before I was going to drop off my dogs. The staff rescheduled me for the upcoming weekend for a drop off and vaccination, with a promise from the staff that they would get us in and make up for the last minute cancellation. I get another call that the make-up appointment also has to be rescheduled because the vet can't see them. How hard is it to administer some vaccines to dogs? Then, we get a call the day of our appointment where the staff apparently thought they communicated to us the first day that the second make-up day was not going to work. We tried to call them back but ended up on hold for 20 minutes and then we were sent to voicemail. I can't believe this place even operates fully. The miscommunication that the staff have between themselves is HORRID. They don't answer their phone calls and take days to return calls and apparently they don't even communicate with each other. If you are considering taking your pet here, please take a look at all of the other 1 star reviews and realize that this place is not SAFE to send your pet to. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise that I'm not able to scheduled a vaccination appointment with them. Banfield, you need to close this place down and reconsider how you operate these kind of clinics. More reputable staff would be a start.

These lovely people went above and beyond for my sweet Teddy on her last day with us. I can’t thank them enough for giving her so much attention (and cake) before she passed. They even cried with us when she was gone. They made a horrible horrible day a little easier and I can’t thank them enough. There really are angels on earth.

Worst vet experience i've ever had in my life. Near impossible to schedule an appointment, and even then, you cant schedule one without their useless overpriced health plan. They are the only vet that i know of that is inept enough to be unable to sex a cat, and thus not be able to get said cat fixed, but STILL CHARGE full price for the visit. At least we got the vaccinations out of it, after dealing with rude and dismissive employees.
