How to Save Money at Amberglen Pet Care
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Today was our first day/appointment at Amber Glen vet clinic, and our experience was amazing! Check in process was a breeze, and Dr. Carey, and the vet tech (I believe Kayli was her name) were so amazing with my doggy, Teddy. They answered all my questions and made my pup and I feel very comfortable at this clinic. Teddy appreciates you all!! Thank you so much.

I just brought home an 8 week old toy poodle/havanese mixed female puppy. I needed to find a new vet since I recently moved to Oregon. The office was easy to find, and since they just opened, I was able to get a next day appointment. The staff we're all very friendly and attentive. They handled all my questions, which I had a lot of since this is my first new puppy in over a decade. Experiencing the level of care and professionalism from everyone there during my initial visit. Made me confident enough to sign up for the annual puppy plan that they had put together. They offered a monthly payment plan that makes things relatively affordable. But since I did feel confident in the level of service I had received at that point. I asked if there would be any benefit if I paid for the annual puppy plan in full. Dr. Burris, who is the veterinarian and owner, was willing to offer a discount on the spot for the aggregate total of our first visit, the annual puppy plan, and the additional services that we requested at that time. Personally, I prefer to deal with a locally owned business where decisions can be made on the spot, and I'm not subject to the veterinarian or the staff needing to run everything up to some corporate office. I did have some concerns at first about them being only open four days a week from 8am to 6pm. However, they were able to provide me with contacts/resources for any after hours or emergency care that may be needed. The final item that really made my decision to choose Amberglen Pet Care as my new vet. Was that my new puppy, Rosie, looked and felt very relaxed and comfortable. She didn't cry or bark once, even while being given oral medication, a vaccine shot, and her first nail trimming. If you are looking for a professional, technology forward, clean, and locally owned veterinarian clinic. Please strongly consider Amberglen Pet Care as your first option.

Dr. Burris and her team are incredible, I’ve had great vets in the past in other states, but this place is leaps and bounds superior. I adopted a cat last month and the previous owner warned me that he can get nervous at the vet/during nail trims. The staff and Dr. Burris were all so kind and patient towards my cat and I, and even gave my cat some awesome treats to relax him. Highly recommend this vet to everyone!

Thank you so much to all the staff at Amberglen Pet Care! I brought my two kitties in for a check up and discovered some hidden health issues with one if them. He is now being treated with medication and has his follow up appointments scheduled. The staff was so kind to my kitties and very friendly. The facility is gorgeous and in a great location. Thank you!

Dr. Heidi Burris is an awesome Doctor. Her office was able to get me in on an urgent matter and she gave my pet a through exam. This is a really good vet and Dr Burris will be our Dr. from now on. Her staff is real kind too. Thank You with Love Bugzy.
