How to Save Money at Uxbridge Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

From the moment I opened the door I was welcomed with smiling faces..and staff that greeted myself and newly rescued dog. My new fur baby was there for her first check up and was very nervous....but both of us immediately felt at ease. All of my questions where answered. Our Vet Dr. BEN walked me through all of her reports., required vaccinations and future needs. I never felt concerned or pressured .I felt reassured and well informed. The vet techs where lovely and compassionate. I completely felt so incredibly impressed with their professionalism and kindness. The following day I received a call to ask how my pet was doing after her vaccinations. You simply can not ask for a better clinic.. I can not express how impressed I was with this visit. In the fast paced world we live in.. it was reassuring that first class customer service driven clinic and the appreciated kindness can still be found. Thank you so so much from myself and our three very much loved fur babies.

Our beagle was suffering from an intense allergic reaction and I was given a timely appointment with Dr. Emily. She was so kind and explained the various options for treatment, answering all my questions with knowledge and compassion. We are very pleased with UVH, from the friendly greeting of the reception staff, to the professionalism of the doctors and technicians, to the much appreciated follow-up call to check on the condition of our dog. We would definitely recommend UVH to any pet owner.

This hasn't been our regular vet but we've been here a few times due to last minute emergencies when our vet was closed or couldn't see us. Everyone we've encountered at the UVH has been amazing, helpful, and caring especially during our pet emergencies. I'd eagerly recommend this vet to anyone.

Exceptional Experience at Uxbridge Veterinary Clinic (UVC)! In August, our beloved dog Coco suffered a sprained ankle on a Friday afternoon of a long weekend. After striking out with 20 local clinics, UVC's compassionate staff saved the day, fitting Coco in promptly. Dr. Ben's expertise is outstanding! He quickly identified critical issues our previous vet had overlooked and conducted a comprehensive exam unlike any Coco had experienced in her 9 years. Dr. Ben spent nearly an hour addressing our questions and concerns, even including my husband via phone call. We're impressed by the staff's warmth, lack of breed bias, and genuine care. Dr. Ben crafted a personalized treatment plan on a Saturday, no less! Tomorrow, Coco undergoes surgery to remove three mammary gland lumps and residual tissue. We've seamlessly transitioned to UVC; the 45-minute drive is well worth it! Discovering UVC sooner would've been ideal, but we're grateful for their top-notch care. UVC has earned our trust and loyalty. Five stars aren't enough – we'd give them ten! ❤️

I have been a Customer of UVH since moving to the Uxbridge area 20+ years ago. I have witnessed the changing of staff members, and process updates to keep up with advances in veterinary science and the digital world. Individual care level for my cats and dogs has remained constantly high, and tailored to their individual medical needs from the first wellness checks and vaccines to the last office visit to say good-bye.
