How to Save Money at Pyne Hills Veterinary Hospital Prof. Corporation.

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Pre-OP threw me off a bit because it was super rushed and the doctor told me I should watch a YouTube video after he asked me if I had any questions but overall my dogs ears look amazing. They healed really well my boyfriend and I took out the stitches on our own and had to post them for a week on and off because they were touching each other on the top of his head

READ: DOCTOR REFUSED TO SPAY NOW MY CATS ARE IN HEAT!!! I recently visited this vet with my two kittens (over 6m at the time of visit) as it is close to my town and had some good reviews, however, I am EXTREMELY disappointed in the dismissal and straight up scam that was run during my visit. I spoke with a receptionist multiple times before booking my appointment and bringing my kittens in to inquire about how I’d go about making an appointment to spay them, and I was told I’d have to bring them in and that they don’t spay until 6 months of age - which was fine. I brought them in to meet the doctor, but unknown to me I was booked in to receive vaccinations for them that I didn’t agree to. I made this known to them and that I wanted to book an appointment to spay both of my cats. Despite having paperwork stating their age as 17 weeks as of September 18th 2024, Dr. Sonia INSISTED they were only 4 months old on based on how their teeth looked because her cat is around the same age as of November 9th and refused to spay them. She said they are perfectly healthy, just not old enough. She insisted on vaccinating them further and deworming. I asked her how much it would cost me to do the vaccinations and deworming for both cats and she said $140. I was quite surprised as that seemed inexpensive, but many seem to praise this place for their fair prices. I accepted and since they were refusing to book my appointment to spay them, it was time for us to go. AGAIN, to my surprise, I get to the counter and the total is $282.. and the receptionist informed me the price I was given was only for one cat. Of course, I’m at a loss because they were already given the vaccines and deworming, so I was FORCED to pay. Not even two weeks later both of my cats are in heat, spraying and doing exactly what I wanted to avoid by spaying them as soon as it was okay to. Dr. Sonia clearly doesn’t care about the repercussions of her actions as I have called twice since then and received no call back, as well as being refused to speak with Dr. Sonia directly to express my concerns. I’ve had dogs in the past and been to other wonderful vets, so this BY FAR, is the worst experience I’ve ever had at the vet. I will never be returning or giving them any more of my money ever again. And I will HIGHLY recommend to anyone I know not to go here.

I have been bringing all my cats here for the past 4 years after I was recommended by a friend. Upon arriving, we are greeted with a smile by the friendly receptionists. The vets here are attentive and quick. I had 3 of my cats neutered and they healed perfectly. They care about the animals, and it shows and charge fair pricing. I highly recommend to anyone who loves their animals to bring them here.

I have a senior dog, 12 years old, who suffers from severe anxiety and has a history of biting, making vet visits extremely challenging. Recently, my dog was diagnosed with a gum tumor, several loose teeth, and poor dental health overall. To make matters worse, the vet also found a heart murmur, raising concerns about anesthesia for surgery. Despite these challenges, the clinic staff was incredibly patient, professional, and caring. The vet recommended blood tests and a heart evaluation, provided a list of safe medications, and thoroughly explained options to minimize risks. The surgery went smoothly, and during the three-hour wait, the staff checked on my dog every ten minutes and kept me updated with detailed explanations. I’m so grateful for their professionalism and kindness. This team truly goes above and beyond, and I highly recommend them to anyone with pets needing specialized care. They’re an amazing team of angels!

We brought out 8 week old Doberman pinscher puppy here to get his ears cropped, the staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. They wanted to make sure we were happy and the puppy was safe! Everything turned out perfectly and we couldn't be happier!
