How to Save Money at The Links Road Animal & Bird Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I’ve been bringing my African Gray parrot ( LUCA) to The Links Road Animal & Bird Clinic for the past 9 years for his annual check-ups, and I can’t say enough good things about this place! Dr. Hanadir is absolutely amazing — knowledgeable, caring, and always takes the time to ensure my bird is comfortable and healthy. The team here is fantastic, and they really go above and beyond to make sure both pets and their owners are well taken care of. I highly recommend THE LINKS BIRD CLINIC for anyone with a feathered friend looking for top-notch care!

Dr. Palmer and the reception team at Links Road Animal and Bird Clinic are phenomenal. They are truly passionate about what they do and are eager to help. Ollie, our bunny, was showing concerning neurological symptoms and thankfully the Links team was able to efficiently accommodate, assess and treat Ollie with close attention and care. My sister and I are deeply appreciative of the Links team — Ollie is back to his silly and loving self

Thank you for helping our Ollie! We were very happy with the service and care provided for him during his time in need. Our little guy (rabbit) had ecuniculi a parasitic condition. Prior to knowing this diagnosis Dr Palmer did an incredible job providing an explaination of potential diagnosis and different treatment options. She's very knowledgeable and caring. The rest of the team was also great. The front desk quickly booked us in for emergency service on the day of and we are so grateful for all the care and service we recieved. Thank you team for helping our Ollie feel better! Check out the before and after videos of Ollie's eye.

Amazing vet team specializing in birds, reptiles, and exotic mammals. We’ve brought our rabbit here for the occasional nail trim and once for an emergency illness. Every time we are treated with respect, provided transparency and professionalism, and most importantly our bunny is taken great care of. Dr Rick is an amazing vet, and I can’t say enough nice things about the rest of the team at the Links Road Animal & Bird Clinic.

Long review sorry haha My family was recommended Links Road for our bunny’s abscess in her face. Our usual vet was unable to perform surgery due to lack of tools/equipment. We were honestly really stressed and getting desperate as our bunny couldn’t eat on her own, but Links Road was very quick to take our bunny Benny in for an evaluation of her situation. We got an appointment to go in the next day and they even performed the surgery for her abscess the same day!!! Dr Evan who did her surgery is amazing! He’s very knowledgeable, calming, funny and patient. He explained what’s happening with the abscess, explained the procedure, the aftercare, and we broke down the costs of everything if we did decide to go ahead with surgery for our bunny. He was extremely patient as we took some time to talk over the financing for her surgery, we felt no pressure at all to hurry to make the decision. They do put pets first and payment later and I really appreciate that!! We did end up going through with the same day surgery, as we got a really great vibe from the clinic and the doctors. We felt completely safe and comfortable leaving Benny in their care, and she clearly needed the help and relief of the surgery so we saw no other option. The healing process was honestly a bit stressful and exhausting, but the doctors and staff at Links made it a breeze. They’ve been so helpful throughout the whole process! Very quick to answer any questions and concerns we’ve had, and never making us feel like we’re asking silly questions. We’ve been seeing Dr.Nur for Benny’s post op check ups and antibiotic shots, and she’s also so amazing! She’s so friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and explains everything thoroughly. She’s easy to talk to, makes you feel very comfortable and I can’t thank her enough for her help and kindness! We finished Benny’s final antibiotic shot and check up today and she looks amazing!!! I just wanted to write this review to thank the whole team at Links for their patience, time, and kindness throughout all of Benny’s procedure and post surgery check ups. I’m so relieved and glad we found this clinic! Benny is healing and feeling a lot better; eating hay and full of life. She’s happy and back to her sassy self lol! My family appreciates this clinic so so much, we can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done for us. We are forever grateful, thank you so much for saving our bunny!! I would HIGHLY recommend Links Road to anyone with bunnies and small pets, and especially bunnies with any abscesses. They will now be my go-to vet from now on! I plan to bring my Guinea pig and bird here soon, I can’t wait!:)
