How to Save Money at Midtown Mobile Veterinary Hospice Services

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I cannot say enough positive things about Midtown Mobile, who were absolutely beyond fantastic during the most difficult time of needing to put down our 13.5 yr old Retriever. Dr. Karen Stekel was so skilled and compassionate, she made the toughest day the best it could be for us. The various resources left to support pet grief and our contact with everyone at Midtown Mobile, from making the most difficult appointment to picking up our beloved Ella's ashes, our experience could not have been more positive. I am so thankful Midtown Mobile was recommended through our Vet Clinic given the circumstances of having to put our beloved Retriever down within 24 hours and over a weekend. They are such an amazing, amazing mobile veterinary service with incredible people. Thank you for making the toughest decision & day for us, as peaceful and positive as it could possibly be. We will never forget our experience of being able to give our beloved Ella a quiet, peaceful death at home surrounded by us all. Thank you so very, very much.

A little over 9 months ago I had to go through the heartbreaking experience of saying goodbye to my best friend, Cali. This is obviously one of the most awful experiences in life that you can go through. In seeing the current almost 800 reviews written about Midtown Mobile Veterinary Hospice Services- there is NOTHING shocking to me about how many people have gone out of their way to write about their experience. It still blows my mind that going through the most devastating experience of my life was so beautiful thanks to them. Aside from bringing Cali into my life 12 years ago, using this service was one of the best decisions I have ever made and the best money I have ever spent. Giving my sweet girl the comfort of being in our home was invaluable. I wont spoil all the things that made the experience so special, thanks to them, but the small details will stick with me for life. For them to bring that level of comfort and love to this was something I appreciate and will be grateful for every single day. I still tear up thinking about every small detail that they had considered would help people through this transition. The compassion and heart that this company and their Veterinarians have is something they should be incredibly proud of. I haven't taken the time to express how much it really meant to me, but I do hope that when they see this they know that I appreciate them all from the bottom of my heart. When I think about or talk about that dreadful day on November 27, 2023, you would think that I'd be shuttering with sadness, but instead I am filled with warmth, gratitude and a deep appreciation for how I was able to navigate it with your help. I know my review will get lost in the abyss here, but if I can help one single person make the decision to use your company, I am happy. Thank you so so much... You're making the world a better place. ❤️🙏🏼

I cannot thank Midtown Mobile enough for the utmost compassion and care they provided for my sweet cat Luna. Samm booked my appointment right away and the next day Dr. Shannon Shue came to my home assist in Luna's transition to the other side with dignity and compassion. Luna was at home with no stress and where she wanted to be. On behalf of Luna and myself; we thank Dr Shannon for her care and compassion.

I am so happy that my vet at Brookville Veterinary told me about Midtown Mobile for at home euthanasia for my Australian Sheppard -Jackson. Everyone in this group is exceptional. The team members who I first spoke to at length when I first called were knowledgeable, professional and compassionate. They were very helpful - this was a difficult decision and talking it through really helped me. Dr Kinzie came to our house and explained the process. She was gentle and really helped my sweet dog Jackson relax. Although it is so difficult to lose a beloved pet - Mobile Veterinary Services made a big difference. I highly recommend them +++.
