How to Save on Veterinary Costs at South Sarnia Veterinary Services

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Well done with the staff at south sarnia. Our dogs love the ladies and the doctors are always willing to try anything and are knowledgeable. They always make time despite full days and back to back furry clients. They're patient with my reactive boy Hank, and always up front about procedures and possible costs.

Not impressed with this clinic, couple years ago when we had to put our old kitty down they were very un compassionate. This cat was my boyfriend’s childhood best friend, my boyfriend ran out of the room crying and the veterinarian said “oh wow he’s over dramatic it’s a cat” NO SIR it’s not just a cat. That should have been my sign to leave and take my other cat else where but I didn’t, then when what they had given me for flea and ticks was burning my cat. They said they would look for something else but then essentially said there wasn’t anything more they could do and I would have to continue to use it or nothing. Left and went else where and we found something that doesn’t burn his skin and fur off.

I brought my dog here with a hematoma in his ear. They did an amazing job. His ear is healing extremely well. And all of the staff members were great with him. Thank you

I came here with my kitten simply to get her first check up and first set of shots. They told me that she had a bunch of health problems and gave me a bunch of prescriptions that I had to pay for (of course). I told them at the beginning that I was on a tight budget and yet they up sold me on a bunch of stuff I did not ask for nor want, but they did it any way without asking then charged me for it. For example, they gave her flea and tick medicine (my cat is an indoor cat and NEVER goes outside) and also, heartworm medicine, which I may have decided I would have got had they ASKED first. Also, at check-in, the secretary's were all standing around gabbing with other customers or playing on their phone while I stood there for a good 20 minutes waiting to be checked in. It was extremely busy, why book so many people in at one time knowing they will be sitting waiting for so long with their pets? Then, due to her prescriptions they would not give the first shots and told me I had to come back again and pay for the second visit (shocker). So when I came back the second time, they told me that my kitten still had the same health issues for which they had already prescribed and charged me for meds for her. Yet the second vet could not determine what the issue even was with her. He simply Googled her symptoms!!! Which I could have done myself!! Then charged me even more for different meds. And get this, it was because my kitten was not opening her one eye fully at some points. So they prescribed me PAIN MEDS for her, despite her showing NO SIGNS OF PAIN.I feel like if you don't know what the problem is, you should just say that and maybe not just keep prescribing different meds. Maybe go back to school so you can figure out the issue instead of using Google? Funny thing is, the Google page did not say anything about pain meds. He himself decided that. I am choosing not to go back to this vet after this.

I am happy that I chose this clinic. They really care about pets. Had to vaccinate my cat for rabies and get medicine to calm my cat for travel purpose. They have explained everything in detail. I highly recommend this place if you want stress free vet visit.
