How to Save Money at Penetang Vet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My KitKat was so matted with her long fur. She hates being brushed. Penetang Vets clipped her and I'm so happy with the results. A before and after. I never knew her down coat was a lovely silky, silver grey! No more Matted hair!

The first cat i brought in....all was good...and I left feeling like these people cared...so when I had to bring the next guy in , due to fleas, it blew me away that they thought it was the same cat as before...they don't even look alike...ones a main coonmix ones a Russian blue...I was concerned with how Maddy was walking...they wrote it off as diabetes but this cats never ever been sick before...so I allowed them to take blood and give him a shot, though to this day I don't know what that was for.. He still needed a flea treatment...they came back with Maddy, and I went to pay...they came up with a 400 bill that I was not prepared for coz I was under the assumption that everything was just going to be about 70...I stood there in front of others pleading my case, and then the person at the desk went away, to only come back bring me in a room disgust my finances and make me sign papers that I would come back on Friday to pay...lets not even begin with how small I felt in that moment...and get Maddy's blood work done...I got a call that Friday saying Maddy didn't have to come in coz they already had his blood, I just needed to come pay....I did that...waited for them to call...she called and sorta of explained things to me but all I heard was he has diabetes needs meds implants and urinologoy...I made an appointment to have him brought in that Friday....I wrote the vet a detailed email explaining I wanted more direction...I never got a reply....I waited till Thursday and realized if they don't care about that then why am I shelling out money for something I don't understand...I really feel taken for a ride ..I wrote an email last Thursday November 7 explaining that unless I got things explained I couldn't see me making Fridays appointment because the funds are low and I just feel like it's a twist in my heart, I feel he is not diabetic, and their just stringing me along, taking my money crushing my heart as we go...I have yet to get one email from them, still have a sick cat and don't know where to turn...this place broke my heart...took my money, charged me for things I didn't get, sent us home , never followed up, still hadn't emailed, and just left us hanging...I am now trying to figure out my next move ...Maddy is still sick Here's a before and after shot of poor Maddy.

Can't say enough about the entire staff at the Penetang Vet Hospital. 5 Star +++. Recently they helped me navigate the elder years of my dogs life up to and including his passing from congestive heart failure. The team always treated me and Wally wonderfully with compassion and respect, everyone was so patient, kind and caring. Everything you hope for with end of life journey. Thank you Vicki, the whole Vet Tech Team and thank you Dr. Allorina! -Matt & Wally🐾💚

The people at this vet are all great. However they are so busy now that my last experience wasn't so good. I had to have my dog checked out before getting flee medication. i arrived promptly on time for my appointment and left about an hour later after the vet quickly checked my dog in under 5 minutes. I also requested to have his nails trimmed but was waiting so long that I left around the 1 hour mark. The room I was placed in during this long wait was the room I had my other dog put down in just a week or two before that. So all in all it took about an hour to get 5 minutes of care or less and I couldn't even get my dogs nailed trimmed.
