How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Niagara Veterinary Services

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Getting to Know Your Veterinarian

Experience

Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.

Emergency Care Procedures

It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.

Communication Preferences

Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.

Breed Specific Health Considerations

Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! An absolutely miserable experience with Dr Paul. I have an elderly cat, so naturally I would expect an educated vet to know that they need to be extra gentle. But not Dr Paul. He shoved my cat hind legs first, roughly into his carrier, instead of allowing me the time to do it safely. My cat is now limping after the appointment. When I reached out to Dr Paul today, instead of giving any care to my situation, instead of asking how my cat (injured by his hand) was doing in any way shape or form... He immediately clammed up instead and refused to take any responsibility, even trying to deflect the blame. Clearly he only cares about covering for himself, instead of caring about your pet, or you the customer. Avoid this Vet at all costs. Worst vet experience I've ever had. I would give 0 stars if I could.

Dr. Paul looked after my Australian Shepherd for 14 years. He and the staff were a pleasure to work with. He never misdiagnosed my dogs ailments and he was the fairest vet I have ever dealt with. If I ever get another pup the first stop will be Niagara Vet Services.

Our family has been going to Dr.Paul for years, him and his team have given all our pets lots of love and care. We appreciate all they have done for our furry loved ones.

Dr. Paul is very thorough and he took the time to explain my dog's test results in regular terminology. I have been to a few different vet's and they don't come close to his care for your animals. Definitely recommend!

DrPaul was a wealth of knowledge. I appreciate that he isn't used to large breed dogs but took the time to explain things to us. very happy that we chose to bring our puppies here
