How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Peterborough West Animal Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Just got back from taking our little guy in for check up and shots. All the staff was very welcoming, my pup was a bit nervous at first but that changed right away with the kindness expressed towards him. Dr. Sargent was great with him! He let the pup see and inspect any tools or devices before having them used on him so he was completely comfortable with everything being done to him. He didn't even wince the slightest to getting his shots. Nail trimming was a breeze from Laura. He was a happy boy leaving and I'm sure he'll be happy to return as well!

Don't recommend going. Talk badly about clients behind closed door, thinking we can't hear them. They said my dog didn't seem like a legit service dog in training because of her breed. Where the breed was picked from a reputable service dog organization. Overpriced for services, I have never seen someone charge almost 2000$ for a spay and hip check. Even just the spay is 1400$. You'd want to keep dogs spayed and neutered to prevent backyard breeding. Did not find them professional. Also signed me up for pet insurance without asking me, and I already have pet insurance. I only found out when I got a call. I also got there 5 minutes early, waited over 15minutes to be served when there were only 2 cars in the parking lot. Did not feel like they cared about my pet.. just the dollar sign

The most compassionate group of people you can ever meet. I have been a client for 4 years and I won't go anywhere else. They are wonderful the staff and doctors I would recommend them anyway! Fast appointments quick responses to email and phone calls. The care is of the most excellence you can ever get ❤️😁😺😻

The veterinarians and vet techs were amazing here, especially Doctor Smith. They were so friendly, knowledgeable, and good with my dog.... I couldn't be happier with them. Unfortunately, their front desk staff are holding them back. The women at the front desk act more like a high school clique and I was not in the "in crowd". They were not very kind or friendly with me. If you don't like your job that much, get something new. These women are bringing down the whole clinic. I just called the other day to ask about getting my kitten neutered and I have not had such an unfriendly phone call in quite some time. We have been using this vet clinic for 10+ years....... no problems until after Covid. Some people seem to have forgotten their manners. This vet is also one of the most expensive vet clinics in the Peterborough area. Why would I go out of my way to pay them more to do the same job that another clinic who actually treats me with respect would do? We have found a new vet.... Which is a shame because I really liked Dr. Smith and the team.... other than the receptionists.
