How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Barrydowne Animal Hospital
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

I had to put my 16 year old cat down last night. De Chamberlain and her assistant were so compassionate. They made me this awful process easier. They treated my sweet hope so well and were gentle with her. They explained everything in detail with so much care and the tone was caring. Once my cat was gone, they allowed my husband and i as much time as we needed to hold her and mourn. Thank you to dr Chamberlain and her caring assistant for making this process easier. It was beautifully done.

Had to come give 5 stars. Our old guy was a patient at a different vet in town but was struggling after hours and Barrydowne was the emergency vet on call that night. It ended up being the hardest night of our life as we had to say goodbye to our boy, but Dr Alanna and the vet tech with her that night (sorry I didn’t get the name) were wonderful and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience when going through something so difficult. I have nothing but good things to say about my experience here.

We recently took our dog Gerro to see Dr. Alana, and couldn’t be more impressed! She was incredibly patient, gentle, and thorough. Gerro can be a little nervous, but Dr. Alana made him feel comfortable right away. She took the time to answer all of our questions and provided excellent care. It’s clear that she really cares about the animals she treats. We left feeling confident that Gerro was in great hands. Highly recommend!

On Friday, our fur baby Stormy had to undergo emergency surgery for a bowel obstruction, things got even scarier when he was showing signs of sepsis. We had the decision to either let him go or opt for a costly surgery with an uncertain outcome. We took a leap of faith, believed our boy would fight, believed Dr. Chamberland would take good care of him, had many many people praying for him, and yesterday we were able to welcome him back home. Thank you to the amazing doctors at Barrydowne, thank you for working so hard to make sure my best friend could be here with me and his family.
