How to Save Money at North Waterloo Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I can’t say enough good things about this clinic! Linda has been the most compassionate vet to my 2 dogs, one of which always seems to have an issue of some sort. I’ve never had to wait for an appointment & all of the staff I’ve dealt with have been wonderful. You won’t be disappointed if you entrust your fur baby with them.

I was debating about writing a review for a few reasons, but I decided why not this is my opinion and I wanted to share. So I have been a client for many years with 2 cats, I recently got a puppy and had to get an exam for her, and of course, her vaccines. Well, she had some pimples on her ears that were pretty red and looked irritated. I suggested to Linda that it had to be an allergic reaction to her food. She thought nope, my puppy was too young for allergies and gave her antibiotics. Well, I do know you should try and avoid antibiotics, especially when they are so young. Anyway, the antibiotics didn't work, and the change of food worked as it was indeed an allergy. I have left there on 2 occasions in tears as Alex doesn't really talk to compassionate and is more " I know more than you kinda attitude." Well, how she comes across to me anyway. I called to ask a question that I thought was pretty valid as my dog was bleeding, and I got no call back as they were supposed to talk to the vet and call me back, I called 2 times after that regarding another topic and they need to open my file and still never said a word to me. I know some reading this may think, why not ask them again, but thats not the point, I shouldn't have to ask again. They had it in my file, and I never heard back . Like I said, it was kinda worrisome, the issue , so that tells me a lot. My pets used to get greeted when I came in, and the receptionist or doctor ( if they were out) would come say hi, Dr Julia was 1 that would come out of her way and say hi if she was around and had a minute. I never get that anymore. It's not so friendly or a caring environment, it seems. They used to have a wonderful lady working the desk often when I came in, I believe her name was Kaitlyn. She was so kind, always greeting the animals and making them feel safe and happy always smiling. Logan is also wonderful. She is a caring, kindhearted employee . I have actually moved all my animals to another vet as I don't enjoy the new management or how things are bringing run so much anymore. I feel many of the staff that were very compassionate and caring aren't around anymore or there is less of the familiar faces in there. 😞

Dr Linda is an amazing individual. She spent a few hours with my dog taking extra care and concern to help find out what was wrong. I believe that she will take very good care of your pet and provide you with the best care 💕😊

Amazing clinic and the best doctors and staff. I bring my dog and two cats here and my parents brought my childhood cats here as well. They will see you in a very timely manner, have so much knowledge and compassion, and it's so nice that they always follow-up to see how the patient is doing. Our family appreciates them so much.
