How to Save Money at Rutherford Road & Hwy 400 Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I only brought my dog here because I was desperate and they were the only place open on a Sunday. I immediately read the horrible reviews and didn’t want to go but my dog needed medical assistance asap. I went here for a cyst on my dogs paw that had ruptured. He is 14 years old and while wrapping up the wound, he bit me, which he has never even come close to doing, so I knew he was in a lot of pain. The doctor seemed nervous around my dog once I mentioned the bite, understandably so, but it seems as if he refused to help me due to not wanting to get bit. He repeatedly said I can’t handle him, he will collapse if I do. His advice to me was for me to go home by myself and restrain him and squeeze all the pus out of the cyst by myself. I explained that I was living alone and I wouldn’t be able to do it myself due to how my dog was reacting, but he told me that again, he couldn’t help me because my dog will collapse. Apparently a medically trained veterinarian helping me while I held him would make him collapse, but me taking him home and restraining him to the ground would not make him collapse. He also left mid appointment (MID CONVERSATION!) when I had more questions. I was under the impression he was coming back, but the vet assistant showed up and said she could cash me out, aka they were telling me it was time to go. I ended up having to do what he said and wrapped my dog in 3 cones while I restrained him and squeezed all the pus out. I traumatized myself and my senior dog in progress. Luckily, my dog is okay, and I did take him to my own vet the next day to make sure he is fine since this doctor seems to be scared of dogs and didn’t give us appropriate medical care. My vet said he has heard a lot of negative things about this place and the vet was completely in the wrong to handle this situation this way. $300 for them to tell me they can’t help, what a joke.

Took 5 of our pups here to get ears cropped, and had a great experience. Staff were super friendly and very knowledgeable. All of the pups ears have healed perfectly. Definitely recommend.

Took my Doberman for an ear crop back in December. After reading some of the reviews I knew what to expect so no surprises. The fact is I have no idea whatsoever who did my dogs ear crop because I never met or spoke with them but the intake staff was really good and helpful. It’s obvious that this clinic does lots of ear cropping as they have a whole days dedicated to it. So I just let them do their thing I’m no specialist they are. When we picked him up he was crying a bit but shortly after getting home he was back to his usual crazy self. We chose a medium/large crop. His ears healed great within a week stitches were removed. We posted them weekly with a guy they recommended named Frank for about 4 months after about $40-$50weekly. Now my boy is lookin super handsome! @blancodobie

I have been coming to this vet Dr. Puri since 2011 for my beloved Dog. From pup to senior years I have nothing but good honest and compassion experiences. Never price gouging me lowest prices from my other family and friends from other vets .Unfortunately I had to make the most heart shattering decision to put my boy to sleep. Even to the end I was treated with respect and compassion in a hard time from Dr.Puri and staff words cannot express my gratitude. DR.PURI will always hold a place in my heart for how he treated me and my boy for all these years.

INCOMPETENT AND UNPROFESSIONAL VET I bought a puppy from a breeder and the initial checkup was done by Dr. Amanjot Kahlon. The health record stated the puppy was healthy. However, within just a month during a second vaccination at another vet (different location), it was discovered that my puppy has Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) - a birth defect with a level 6 heart murmur. PDA can lead to a serious heart failure without surgery. The second vet was shocked that such a life threatening birth defect condition was missed during the initial check up by Dr. Kahlon. A competent vet would have easily detected as the puppy's heart level was grade 6 (severe) and had a vibration. To make matters worse, when I informed Dr. Kahlon about the situation, my message was completely ignored. Now I am left with $10,000 in medical bills for my puppy's heart surgery due to Dr. Kahlon missed diagnosis. Please read all the negative reviews!! AVOID this vet at all costs!!!
