How to Save Money at Espanola Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Awesome... They were incredible with my first Boston Terrier with back surgery... They were kind, caring, to the point, and were great at their job. I wasn't able to be with my guy when there were complications from and back surgery, but they gave me a full year extra with Thor! I recommend them to anyone that I can

In my opinion Espanola Animal Hospital is not a hospital, it is the personal creation of a highly intelligent very gifted individual who seeks unconditional obedience like the love of a speechless pet. This place is a specifically designed controlled environment where veterinary surgical excellence is available providing you fit and keep the targeted profile of reliant desperation capable of silent blind trust, and this also applies to staff who appear to change quicker than the seasons. Examination room consults may be for the purposes of informed consent but make no mistake you are being assessed. Staff, by rushed oversight or lack of guidance, may give you the wrong or erred information, but its ok as they provide online information and are always available to answer questions or address concerns. Do not be surprised if staff seem like they are following a timed script, because they are, as the script is the creation of the one person whose time dictates. I would like to think the empathy witnessed was genuine, but I cannot discard its potential for reinforcing the required profile. Medications might be excessive as cooky cutter prescribed, but rest assured your resultant panic will be quickly addressed and will reaffirm your reliant desperation capable of silent blind trust. If you deviate from any instructions, keep it to yourself otherwise you risk being refused service. Costs will be a surprise if you do not read carefully to figure from start to end, and they are usual as similar to other establishments that need to pay for their equipment and liability insurance. I cannot discard the potential of profiting by Hills Brother’s but I give the benefit of the doubt he truly believes it assists care. To be fair, the desired outcome of fixing my pet was achieved, and although I have no other to compare to I am convinced the doctor is not a hack or phoney, so if you can fill the doctors need yours should be met, that is also to say the motivation in play is not about the patient as services will be denied if you cross his line.

Harley and I are very grateful for all the excellent care he has received during his initial hip replacement and subsequent complications and implant removal. There are risks with any procedure and complications happen to even the best of surgeons. Dr. Rocheleau has been honest and informative through the entire process, and I have complete faith in him. I am a veterinarian myself and would trust him with my own dogs and any of my patients. The entire team at Espanola is professional and friendly, and clearly love their patients. Harley can be difficult to work with (sorry!) and they’ve been very accommodating and tolerant of his drama. To those with negative reviews commenting on price and cancellation fees - Dr. Rocheleau is an extremely skilled surgeon in high demand, and his fees are actually very reasonable for the specialized services he provides. Veterinarians deserve to be paid well for their services, and I guarantee the costs of surgery at Espanola are a fraction of what things would cost in human medicine, yet your fur baby gets the exact same level of care if not higher.

We received outstanding service from the moment we walked in. We left with no questions. Everything was explained in detail. I felt confident in leaving my fur baby for surgery. Our little girl came through with flying colors. Can't wait til she gets to her follow up. Will update

Can I get a 6th star please? Receptionist Tammy is amazing. After hearing our story brought it to Dr. Rocheleau's attention who wanted us in the next day as he anticipated surgery ASAP. Our dog had become paralyzed suddenly on Monday and the vet we saw initially said crate rest and meds for 8 weeks! My dog would never have walked again as he had a large disc protrusion at L2,3. Every person we spoke to or encountered at EAH was compassionate, caring and knowledgeable. Dr. Rocheleau took the time although very busy to explain everything we were facing. Words cannot express my gratitude to this vet and his caring team. Thank you all from Toby and his pawrents.
