How to Save Money at Martindale Animal Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I bring my bunny to Martindale. There were two but sadly one passed so now it is just one. If you want care that costs less do not go there. If you want incredible bunny care and are willing to pay then go there. I have nothing but praise for them as far as rabbits go. If you have a bunny I 1000% recommend you go to Martindale. Dr. Davis is an absolute blessing when it comes to bunnies. Dr. Barnes was amazing too when we saw her.

I realize that from time to time people don’t get the service that they expect they should get and are disappointed but thankfully for me all of my experiences with the Martindale Animal Clinic have met or exceeded my expectations. When it comes to the end of life care the Martindale Animal Clinic is second to none. After 2 emergency visits elsewhere, one giving very questionable care, my daughter and I had the most difficult decision to give her 14 month old baby his wings. When the staff at Martindale said we could take all the time we needed they actually meant it and I couldn’t be more grateful. From spending a very long time deciding in a regular exam room to spending even more time saying goodbye in their special room we did not feel rushed in any way, shape or form. The ambiance there was comforting and special. The extra added touch having a private exit door is even more going above and than they already had done. I realized just how good the Martindale Animal Clinic is at the end of life care when a short 2 weeks later I had to say goodbye to my 13 year old at another clinic. I felt rushed saying goodbye and I felt like they couldn’t get me out of the clinic fast enough. To solidify my opinion about Martindale, today after picking up the second set of cremaines , I received a card in the mail. It contained the most beautiful message inside as well as footprints, a nose print and a tuft of fur. Words can not express just how much this means to us; to take our feelings into consideration, to help us with the little things when we didn’t even know what little things we would want. Thank you to the Martindale Animal Clinic staff😽😽

A huge thank you to the amazing staff at Martindale Animal Clinic for taking care of our sweet storm. They have gone above and beyond taking care of him and treating the ulcer in his eye. I can’t thank them enough for the checkin calls and more importantly the love and empathy they have. Dr McGill is the kindest most gentle soul and I can’t thank her enough for the amazing caring acts she has done. If you have a pet ensure you take them to Martindale animal clinic. Word cannot express how thankful we are for this wonderful team.

If there was an option to give more stars I would. Martindale went above and beyond, the care and compassion by the vets and staff is amazing. Big thank you to Dr. Davis and the vet team for their care and compassion. Every moment our dog Lola was there during her final day we knew she was in the best care possible, the support and care towards my family and I during our dogs final day from the staff at Martindale was something we will never forget and it meant so much to us. A week after my dog had passed, I was having a rough day and when I got home I had received mail from Martindale vet clinic, and instantly upon opening I was in happy tears and smiling. They had sent me a very kind card along with paw prints from my dog Lola and some hair trimmings, this is something that means so much to me. A huge thank you from the Benner family. You helped us through the hardest day we had to go through and it meant so much to us. Dr. Davis and the vet team helped surround our dog Lola with so much love and kindness while we were there.
