How to Save Money at Bayview Park Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I was very impressed with this veterinary clinic. I came from out of town for my two kittens to be spayed (my kittens were from a rescue in the area). Their communication was excellent and made sure that my kittens were healthy to undergo the surgery. They called me as soon as the kittens were out of surgery to let me know they were doing well. They were on time, and took great care of my kittens. Their surgical sites have healed well with no issues. If I lived in the area, I would definitely be back. Many thanks for taking care of my kittens!

All of the assistants at the front including Matthew have been incredible and compassionate. Dr. Singh and Dr. Jindal are outstanding in their care and genuine love of animals. Thank you for all of the care you have given Bailey, Titan and now Chloé.

I am incredibly grateful for the outstanding care Dr. Singh Grewal provided to our dog at Bayview Park Animal Hospital. Several months after the surgery, our dog is now healthy, happy, and thriving – a true testament to Dr. Singh's skill and expertise. When our dog needed surgery, we were understandably worried. The infection was very resilient, and recovery seemed uncertain, but Dr. Singh's professionalism and knowledge gave us hope. He took the time to explain every detail of the procedure, which helped ease our anxiety. His kindness, humility, and genuine concern for our dog's well-being were so comforting during such a difficult time. Dr. Singh not only performed the surgery expertly, but he also understood our financial constraints and worked with us to ensure our dog received the best care at a reasonable cost. The recovery process was smooth, and our dog has made a full recovery, thanks to Dr. Singh's dedication and skill. We are so grateful to Dr. Singh for saving our dog's life and for his unwavering compassion. We wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone in need of a skilled and caring veterinarian. Thank you, Dr. Singh, for everything you've done for our family!

I've been to this veterinarian many times and have always had good experiences, but my most recent visit was very disappointing. For context, my dog lives 300km up north with my father close to Huntsville, and I bring her down to come to this vet as the last time they cleaned her ears, it stayed away for quite awhile and it was a very pleasant experience overall. For this visit I brought her down for the purpose of getting her ears cleaned thoroughly, as the typical weekly cleaning wasn’t keeping up with the ear infection that she has had since we got her, as well as a couple other bumps and things I had noticed on her that I wanted to get checked out. I was asked to move the appointment from 4:30pm to 3:45pm which I agreed to as they were already able to get her in quickly and it only meant I had to leave work a little earlier than expected. I arrived at 3:35 and they immediately moved us into one of the exam rooms where I sat until around 4:10 to 4:15pm. When they came in, they got to work right away on her ears and went along cleaning them quicker than I remember it taking the last time and took a very quick look with the scope in her ear and told me it was clean. After the ear cleaning, I was trying to talk to the doctor about the bumps but he wasn’t listening and was just asking me if everything about vaccines was up to date and I tried to bring it up again and he got to talking about the antibiotics that I need to purchase for her ears, again not hearing my concerns about the bump on her rear. He then left the room, which I assumed he would be coming back and after that the lady at the front desk was telling me that she was ready for me at the front to pay. After leaving and returning home, I decided to look in my dogs ears to ensure that they were clean (as I wasn’t convinced they had gotten everything) and found there was still gunk in her ears. Overall, the staff seemed rushed and the quality of the cleaning shows that. I am frustrated and concerned that I will have to look for another way to get my dogs ears treated. I hope they take this feedback seriously and improve their service in the future. - Dana. A

We have had our daisy at this clinic her whole life. The last few times, we have had absolutely incredible experiences, especially with Matthew. Our daisy started having seizures in the last couple of months and the clinic has been extremely informative putting all options on the table and never making you feel “forced” to do anything. I absolutely recommend this clinic!
