How to Save Money at Gillies Grove Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
When our veterinarian, Dr Zaleski passed away unexpectedly, our hearts were broken. Our dogs had been her patients since they were pups, loved her, and only trusted her until now. Reluctantly, we were obliged to find another vet and animal clinic who we could trust again that would care 100% for our fur babies who we loved because they were family members. A few weeks ago we discovered Gilles Grove had openings for our 2 dogs. I called to inquire about the services that would be provided. My conversation on the phone was so pleasant and informative. I completed the registration forms as required online. Then my first appointment was immediately booked for the following week as one of my dogs required immediate medical attention. Dr. Mel, who is the vet at this clinic met with both my husband and I. She impressed us from the start. It was obvious she was confident in her element. She spoke with a gentle, relaxed voice, explaining every detail of our dog's condition, his breed and what to expect, recommended her diagnosis of his current medications and how we could decrease the dosage, change the prescriptions to ease his current medications and current discomfort. Magically, a week later, our little fur boy healed beautifully thanks to Dr. Mel's magical formula of prescriptions and medical advice. He is full of energy, no longer lethargic, and plays with his younger fur sister. What a joy to see him back to his normal, energetic self! Thank you Dr. Mel❣️ I should add that the staff at this clinic are a wonder too. They are so welcoming especially to newbies Iike us. It is obvious they love animals too. We didn't mind waiting for our turn, our dog played with the staff and he wasn't anxious by the time be had to see Dr. Mel. I rate this clinic with 5 stars *****

Great lead doctor combined with great service and appointments availability. It is very unfortunate how expensive everything is becoming. It’s not right that medicine should be so expensive. Nonetheless, I highly recommend Gillies Grove Animal Hospital!

Unbelievably disappointed in my experience. Everyone but the front desk girl was professional & courteous. I was deeply disturbed and uncomfortable after the appointment. I had a total of less than a minute with the actual vet and she didn’t even look me in the eyes or introduced herself. They initially had no records of my pet, nor gave a lick of crap about that despite my clear concern due to my pets previous extensive care before I adopted. I needed to share my experience so you are fully prepared if you are considering them. Be unwavering in your questions and be firm with the associates. As customers we have a massive impact on how changes will be made and they absolutely need to reflect on their system. Health, whether humans or animals, is needed to be taken at the utmost care and concern. I didn’t feel that at all. No time to allow me to ask questions as well. I was seriously dumbfounded by that experience. It all felt like an “act” to get through, instead of an experience of gratitude for their care and concern for my pet. Lastly, the actual concern I had booked the appointment for was clearly disregarded as nothing with no reasoning or indication to me as to why. It’s so important to teach so that we can understand and build trust. Anyone could have done what they did. Few days later my pet has flared up with the exact same health concern I went in for but I feel so discouraged to reach out and ask for their advice as the experience was so poor. Truth hurts, but is essential for growth. I’m hoping a better experience for everyone’s pets moving forward.
