How to Save Money at Forever Vets Animal Hospital on Race Track Road

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We are fortunate and very grateful that we decided to make Forever Vets THE place for our beloved animals. Recently, our precious Golden Doodle, Nina, fell extremely ill, literally overnight. We were really concerned with the way she was behaving - super lethargic, unable to move. We called the clinic and they told us to bring her in right away and that the doctor would be waiting for us. We had to make a stretcher out of a blanket for my wife and I to load her in the truck. As soon as we pulled up the staff came out with a real stretcher to get her inside. Thats when we met Dr. Uppala. We were a little concerned because he wasn't a doctor we have seen before. Dr. U examined her right away and decide to do x-rays. He discovered a large mass had grown in her spleen. He advised us that she needed emergency surgery and warned us that if the mass were to rupture she would likely bleed out internally. We agreed and after only about an hour after we arrived with her, she was on the operating table. It turned out that the mass had, in fact, already ruptured and she had begun to bleed internally. Dr. U removed the affected spleen. Our girl would not have made it another 24 hrs. Nina means the world to us. She has filled our lives with unconditional love and joy through the highs and lows of the last 11 years. She is now 2 weeks from her surgery and is full of life and energy. Im not sure how to thank Dr. U and the Forever Vets staff enough for saving our girl's life. We are "Forever" grateful 🙏.

Recently started bringing my 2 year old Lab retriever (AirBud) to this vet location. They always take such good care of him and give the attention he needs. Want to give special shout out to Dr.Briley who has been absolutely amazing since day 1. She took such good care of my pup when he was sick due to kennel cough. She went above and beyond to help him out and my pup was back to normal in 2 days. I also got to work with Destiny (receptionist, I believe) as well while I was there and she's such a sweet and fun person to work with. 100% recommend this location to anyone looking for a safe place for their pet. Also, enrolled in their wellness program which is so much worth it.

We love Forever Vets for our fur babies. We use the wellness plan that easily pays for itself with just the basic visits. Little to no waiting for treatment every time. For me that is priceless. Everyone that works here is very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. They love our baby dogs almost as much as us! Easy to get a convenient and even last minute appointment here. Excellent vet!!

Love Dr. Tonsich and AJ was also so kind and helpful. Been going here for years. They always remind me and help keep vaccinations up to date. Dr. Tonsich recommended Solencia for our aging cat and it helped her be less achy and I swear she lived another 2 years because of it. When she passed at the age of 16 they sent flowers and a sympathy card. They really know my 2 dogs well also and their personalities. Never a long wait and they get you in and out quickly and timely.

Recently started bringing my pup here. Great experience so far! My dog has been treated for an infection, had teeth extractions and cleaning, shots and bloodwork. Every visit has been great. Doctor T. Is very informative and thorough. Prices are affordable especially on the care plan.
