How to Save Money at Orlando Veterinary Dentistry

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I am a veterinary technician for a clinic that often refers clients to Orlando Veterinary Dentistry for specialized care. Recently I took my own dog(a 6 month old English Cocker spaniel) to have an orthodontic procedure done to correct a malocclusion of his lower canines. Dr. Beckman and Annie were amazing! They were able to get me in right away, and my puppy’s procedure was so quick and he recovered without any complications. His teeth were corrected fully in 3 weeks, I am very happy! Communication was great throughout, and all the staff was very friendly. I feel even more confident referring clients to the practice after having first-hand experience with them. Thank you for fixing little Basil’s teeth!

I took my fur child here for a dental cleaning and evaluation after I was referred by my primary vet office. My boy Chewy has cardiac issues and through a workup we found that in order to safely have a dental cleaning, anesthesia time would need to be limited to ensure safe recovery. I am proud to say that I have now found my new vet for any of my pet's dental needs. Dr. Beckman and Anne are truly one of a kind. From start to finish the quality of care you receive at this practice astounding. They did an awesome job retrieving Chewy's records and had every precaution in place to accomodate my boy. My baby was taken care of, returned to me safely, and is now able to eat again without being in pain. I am forever grateful to them. As a healthcare provider myself I value a good bedside manner, patient centered treatment, and good communication. After our visit, everything including post operative plan of care, pictures of the issues found as well as how every issue was treated was explained in detail. I had no stones left unturned as far as any questions I could have. The office also followed up in the following days to make sure our baby was doing well and recovering. This practice also keeps a great line of communication open for any questions you may have as well. The most important thing is this practice CARES about thier patients. It is very evident the moment you meet Dr. Beckman and Anne. I knew from that moment my baby was in good hands and he will be returning here to see them for his dental and oral care from now on. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are forever grateful to you! -Derek, Stephanie & Chewy-

Very professional and very nice. I felt like Goldie was in the best hands he could ever be. I was lucky to get an appointment as soon as I did because Goldie needed a lot of work to make him pain-free. I cannot recommend Orlando Veterinary Dentistry highly enough.

Kodi had a root canal and crown on his lower left canine performed by Dr. Beckman and his team. The whole team is very professional. Annie was our main contact for scheduling and information. Dr. Beckman, at our first visit, explained to us the whole process and was very reassuring. A team of vet techs monitor your pet throughout the procedure. Annie kept us informed about about how Kodi was doing and when he was moved to recovery on each of our two visits. The office environment is clean and the two waiting rooms are friendly and inviting. I highly recommend this team. They made us and Kodi very comfortable throughout. We cannot thank them enough!

Our Collie, Joey, had a slab fracture on his canine tooth and 2 other fractured teeth as a result of jumping at the fence and air conditioner in our back yard. We believe this happened some time ago and at a recent vet visit, our vet suspected that the pulp may be exposed, which would be painful for a dog. We were referred to Dr Beckman who is a specialist in this field as you simply can not pull the canine without other problems developing. Dr. Beckmam and Annie were very calming and reassuring as we were very concerned about Joey's recovery. He had a root canal and fitted for a crown (I didn't even know this was something done on dogs) as had 2 extractiions. Joey is recovering well and received the very best care possible with Dr. Beckman and Annie & team. He us now wearing a soft muzzle in our backyard to ensure he doesn't re-injure or damage more teeth while we add some barriers so that this doesn't happen to Joey again. I highly recommend Dr Beckman and don't think you can find better qualified and more caring people to take care of your pet/baby.
